Glastonbury weather - latest forecast

It won't be a completely dry week but there will be a lot of fair weather and when the sunshine does appear it will feel very warm, and humid. Not bad overall.

Issued: 23rd June 2025 10:35
Updated: 23rd June 2025 11:19

It’s a very different start this week at Glastonbury with temperatures of 13C before 8am. There is a fresher feel to the air across the UK in the northwesterly wind. Last week, there was a top temperature of 31C at nearby Yeovil on Friday. The heat has disappeared for Monday but what about the rest of this week as Glastonbury 2025 begins?

An important change in wind direction will warm things up on Tuesday and Wednesday. A southwesterly breeze will lift the temperatures to 24C midweek for the opening day.

There was some heavy rain at the weekend but we are now back into mostly dry and bright weather. In any sunny spells, it will feel very warm with high UV levels. The grass pollen will remain high. Overall, the weather looks fine and warm but there could be a bit of rain in the next few days.

The UK weather is balanced between high pressure away to the southwest and trying to warm up in sunshine and heat from the south but competing with a brisk westerly flow off the Atlantic. This keeps the air stirred and will bring frontal rain at times. Mostly these weather fronts will be further north, perhaps affecting Wales but generally missing Somerset. However, there will be occasional clusters of showers and there is a little feature from the Bay of Biscay later on Wednesday to watch.

Wednesday will brighten up and feel warm in the sunshine after a slow, grey start. With hardly any breeze, it will feel very warm when pitching tents. By late afternoon, showery outbreaks of rain could appear from the low pressure. There will be hot and humid air for the far SE of England with the threat of elevated storms later. For Glastonbury, there could be rain by Wednesday evening but there is uncertainty at this stage. The showers could miss Pilton or just see one slowly passing by, but it’s not the same threat as for SE England.

Thursday

Overnight, the westerly flow reestablishes itself and will draw in plenty of low cloud from the sea. Thursday could have another grey start perhaps with a little patchy rain early on, but it should brighten up. The temperature on Thursday will depend on how much sunshine does appear but it could be 21 to 23C. Showery rain will continue to topple into western Britain but at this point it does look like Wales will be the southern point. The high pressure away to the southwest will be trying to settle the weather for the West Country.

Friday
By Friday, there will be a southwesterly breeze and very warm air. Again, there will be rain for Wales (possibly staying further north all together) but Somerset should remain protected by the high. This pulse of heat should allow temperatures to rise into the mid 20sC if the sunshine appears. It will feel warmer anyway.

The next frontal band will bring more cloud to Glastonbury for Friday night.

Saturday

This band could leave Saturday rather mixed. Currently, there could be more cloud with a it of patchy rain at times. It looks like one of those traditional June days when you wanted bright sunshine and heat but you get cloudy skies, the threat of rain but it's okay and everyone carries on just wishing it could be better. The air will be warm and feel close.

Sunday

The high pressure will be building towards the UK over the weekend. The active jetstream will nudge northwards towards Scotland. This shift should allow some fine and settled weather for Glastonbury this weekend.

Last week we had a steady high pressure with slowly descending air being heated in bright sunshine. This combined with a plume of hot and humid air from the south last weekend with temperatures reaching into the low 30sC

This week we have a strong jet guiding low pressures towards the UK and although Glastonbury will miss most of their wind and rain, all this is stirring the lower atmosphere and not letting the heat build. Southeast England will become hot and humid again but there will be enough mixing for SW England along with times of cloudy skies, that the temperature range looks to stay between 21 and 25C. That will feel very warm when the sunshine does appear but Thursday evening looks a bit cooler, as it may be for anyone getting up around 6am earlier in the festival. Otherwise, it may feel rather close by night.

This balance is key, high pressure with very warm and humid air to the south but the westerly Atlantic influence further north. Currently, Glastonbury will mostly see the fine, humid weather without the severe weather of extreme heat or torrential prolonged rain.

Packing Yes to sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Yes to one hoodie, just one. Take your shorts, you might as well. Only a ‘Maybe’ for your wellies but organisers recommend sturdy boots for all the walking about. Bring “A reusable water bottle, to fill up from the free taps on site” also a waterproof coat and clothes for the changeable weather conditions.

Advice from the site

“Only bring what you really need. However you arrive, you'll inevitably have to carry your stuff a fair distance to where you camp.”
Love Worthy Farm, Leave No Trace. “Please bring a sturdy tent that will last a lifetime of festival camping.” “Please label all of your bags and belongings “ Have a great trip.
