The climate summaries have been issued for October 2019 and they show a lot of rain over England and Wales compared to the average totals in recent decades. That probably isn't much of a surprise. Eastern England was particularly wet compared to average but Northern Ireland, Scotland and Cumbria were drier than average or around average.
November 2019 has started with more wet weather, a wild weekend in the south and ongoing yellow warnings for rain for N/NE/E Scotland although a more northerly flow will change things later this week and bring a chill to all.

Usually in autumn the Jetstream powers across the Atlantic and throws plenty of low pressures towards the UK with most of the wet and windy weather clobbering Ireland, Scotland and NW England. Sometimes also catching NW Wales. This year, the Jetstream was a bit further south and it was Wales and England that saw most of the heavy rain which allowed some respite for Northern Ireland and Scotland. We’ve not had a named storm yet so far this season. Still awaiting ‘Storm Atiyah’
Bonfire Night - with November 5th falling on a Tuesday there have been firework displays on several days already. Just SE Britain could see a hang-on of cloud, milder air and a few lingering blustery showers.
There has been widespread flooding for western/SW England and Wales with a major event 25th/26th October testing flood defenses in cities and towns. Even barely recovering from that, there has been more rain already and the forecast for Thursday includes more rain over Wales and England.
For the drier parts fo the UK there was more sunshine with the clearer skies abut also cooler air, to the north of the main rain bands in October. As the winds turn around to the north later this week there will be a noticeable change in the air for November.
