So it's been a momentous and slightly crazy week here at Netweather, we've launched our new website and have since been busy listening to your feedback and tidying up any bugs and problems that have been coming up. Thanks to everyone who's been in touch - the vast majority of people seem to really like the changes but obviously with any change it can take some getting used to!
If you've been looking around the site you'll probably have noticed the design changes which we think have given Netweather a much more modern and airy feel, as well as this the whole site is now 'responsive' meaning that whatever device you're on - from a desktop pc, right down to a smartphone you should be able to use the site - and the good news is that if you're on a mobile or tablet, you don't get a cut back website and limited feature set, you get the full site but in an easy to use format.
It's not just the design of the site which has changed though, another significant change is to our
weather forecasts, these are now using our own NMM models to ensure an even more accurate forecast, and in the case of the
local 7 day forecasts, you can view the first 24 hours of the forecast in hourly slots rather than 3 hourly.
Other changes include some additional section homepages and breadcrumb links on pages to help you find your way about the site, we've also added geo-location to the
radar and
lightning detector so you can have it zoom to your location automatically should you wish to, and in the datacentre we've added the
GEM forecast model to the chart viewers.
We're not finishing there though, we've already got a list of 'second fixes' scheduled in for next week, many of them based on your feedback, and we've got a whole mass of new features (including mobile apps) in the pipeline. So please do let us know if you spot a bug or think something could do with a tweak to make it better - we really do appreciate your input.
Now though, after a lot of hard work this week and in the weeks building up to the launch, it's time for me to relax for a bit and start the weekend without going goggle eyed on the pc. Hope you all have a great one..
