Weekend lull for UK heat as fresher Atlantic air arrives

Fresher Atlantic air will reach across the UK following a cold front which will bring outbreaks of rain to parts of the UK. Plenty of fine weather too but just not as humid.

It won’t be as hot nor humid at the weekend. Saturday night looks cooler for all if you have been having trouble sleeping. It has been England and Wales seeing the heatwave conditions in recent days and warmer, more humid air has pushed northwards on Thursday with a risk of thunderstorms. The heat will last in England on Friday, with warmth for eastern Scotland and eastern England could still see 24 or 25C on Saturday. Change is on its way from the Atlantic, starting on Friday.

Two low pressures will affect the UK, one near to Iceland which will throw its cold fronts and rain over Northern Ireland and western Scotland later on Friday but could bring heavy showers to southern Britain on Saturday. The second won’t arrive until later in the weekend but will bring windy weather to Ireland on Sunday and wind and rain to Scotland and Northern Ireland during Sunday night but could pull more very warm air towards England for Monday.

Saturday should start off sunny for the northwestern half of the UK but more cloud to the southeast. It will brighten up where as blustery showers get going for Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Eastern England could still be very warm but generally temperatures across the UK will be 19 to 22C. The front which brought rain to western areas overnight will have faded in the north but early showers over Cornwall and Devon will follow the weakness.

There is a risk of heavy showers extending eastwards during Saturday over southern England. There could be hefty downpours for London, southwest England and even East Anglia in the afternoon although there is uncertainty around this part of the forecast.

Saturday night will be clear and cool, finally feeling more comfortable for southeast Britain.

Sunday looks fine for many. There will be rain in the far northwest and partial cloud cover, so often bright at best. Temperatures again will be 20 to 23C.  As the second low deepens it will be windy for Northern Ireland with heavy rain in the evening.
