Stylish homeware brand Brabantia is passionate about making everyday tasks more enjoyable, and that includes doing your laundry – which is why they teamed up with our very own weather expert Jo Farrow, to reveal how you can keep energy costs low, and effectively utilise the great British weather to dry your washing.
Brabantia has explored consumer laundry habits and found that 80% of Brits said that energy costs influence how they do laundry. Despite this, 43% still use a tumble dryer to dry their clothes in the winter and only one in five hang their items outside to dry*.
Together with our Jo Farrow, Brabantia has created the Drying Digest will not only help you to understand the weather but also reveals the best times to get your washing out on the line – whatever the weather! You can find the Drying Digest on the Brabantia website
*Research was carried out online among 2,084 UK adults by Mortar Research, a member of the British Polling Council. Fieldwork took place between 9 – 11th January and was nationally representative of gender, age and region.
The drying guide uses a range of different weather parameters which all affect the drying speed of your washing (temperature, rainfall, windspeed, humidity to name a few), then we crunch the numbers to create a rating from poor up to superb. This will give you an idea of when may be the best time to hang the washing out. As well as that - you can keep an eye on the weather radar for your location, to make sure no rogue downpours are on their way over the next hour.
