Update Thurs 6th July
There was more sunshine as the gates opened for Day4 at Wimbledon. Temperatures are expected to reach into the high 20s Celsius again today and it will feel hot and humid. Sunhats and sun cream all round. The players have been reaching for their towels rolled up with ice cubes with the high humidity.
There is a risk of thunderstorms today. Already a cluster has clipped Kent but for the rest of Thursday we will be watching showers grow over England as they drift NE. So, a day for watching the radar to see what is developing over southern England and heading up towards SW19. All the ingredients are there for torrential downpours, when the ground staff will be scrambling to get the covers on. However, with the heat and the humidity, and the possibility that it does just stay fine and sunny, there is no point closing the roof on centre court. It is a wait and see day. Fingers crossed.
If you are queuing on Thursday night, all will be calm, yet still close and muggy. The showers will have cleared.
Friday looks fine with plenty of sunshine in the morning. It will cloud over a bit in the afternoon as showers lurk away to the north, but overall a lovely day and not quite a humid later. Saturday should be another fine day with sunshine and warmth, not quite as close and humid as midweek but still warm at about 26C If you are queueing Sunday night, it looks slightly fresher and there could be a shower.
Monday does look unsettled at the moment with a lot of showers about. Overall next week doesn’t look as hot and humid but still with some fine, sunshine.
