Where is Michael Fish?

It’s Friday he should be on Netweather. Well, he’s been to Edinburgh. Mr Fish was up for the festival, the special guest of a production by @Michael_Phish, you see what they’ve done there. And as I was doing STV weather for Scotland today, I thought I’d catch-up with him there.

Edinburgh was looking lovely in the afternoon sunshine, full of festival go-oers milling about, crazy dressed up actors and performers, a crew carrying a boat, stalls and music. August in the Scottish capital is varied and busy with a lot going on, including a show about our very own Michael Fish.

Comedian Russell Layton explains that Hurricane Michael is a show about the “meteorological JFK moment” and “revealing the truth” about the 87 Storm. The battle of the Met Office and BBC, many 80s weather presenters are mentioned. I even got to play Wincey Willis on stage. It’s fun, it’s quirky and it looks at the era of the 80s with Black Monday, Chernobyl, no social media and very large cordless phones. Sitting next to real Michael Fish watching a play led by the character Michael Fish was a bit weird. Anyway, he seemed to like it all and Mmmm-ed at the Bill Giles jibs.

The south-east corner of the Kingdom of United has been deflowered by a vengeful and unforgiving storm. Celebrated meteorologist and rising national treasure, Michael Phish, foresees its arrival but chooses to tell a different story. Many years later, video footage (in encrypted Betamax) is pulled from the rubble of the shamed and discredited Met Office, revealing the reasons behind this treasonous transmission. This is Michael Phish.

I think Michael will be back with his video tomorrow Saturday 6th August, as long as his train gets back in time.

Hurricane Michael by Michael Phish https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/hurricane-michael continues until the 29th August and there is a huge list of shows and updates available here https://www.edfest.com/

It will be quite windy this weekend, but it will feel warm enough with sunshine. Next week looks a bit cooler but should be fair.
