Another heatwave will build across large parts of England and Wales this coming week and it is expected to bring a long spell of hot weather lasting through most of the week and perhaps into the following week. This will be the third official heatwave of the year. While it might not match the record-breaking intensity of late June, it is expected to last much longer, potentially sticking around until the middle of July. It will be hottest in the south, where we could reach the mid-30s celsius on Thursday and Friday.

However, for Scotland and Northern Ireland - there will be a continuation of cooler and often cloudy conditions with rain at times spreading east off the Atlantic during the first half of the week, though any further rain will become increasingly confined to northwest Scotland from mid-week, as high pressure builds from the south - bringing drier, sunnier and warmer conditions.
Most rain in the north in the coming week, more especially for NW Scotland, eastern Scotland will become drier from mid-week.
High pressure will continue to dominate the weather across most of England and Wales as we start the new week on Monday, bringing mostly fine, dry and sunny weather - with variable amounts of cloud. Best of the sunshine across southern and eastern England, hot across SE England - where temperatures may reach 31-32C, elsewhere across England and Wales reaching 24-29C inland away from coasts.
Scotland and N. Ireland cloudier, some patchy rain possible across Scotland - more especially in the morning before becoming confined to the north and west. Temperatures reaching 16-20C.
Plenty of sunshine for England and Wales on Tuesday, with wall-to-wall blue skies for many, very warm for many, hot in the south - reaching 30-31C. Cloudier again for Scotland and N. Ireland - though most rain patchy and confined to northern and western Scotland, some sunny spells may develop in the afternoon across N. Ireland and southern Scotland - making it feel warm.
High pressure looks to build further north on Wednesday, so eastern Scotland and N. Ireland perhaps joining England and Wales and become drier and sunnier, cloudier across western Scotland, perhaps thick enough for drizzle. Hot again for southern, central and eastern England - temperatures reaching 30-33C, mid to high 20s elsewhere across England and Wales.

It looks increasingly like it could turn even hotter across the southern half of England and Wales on Thursday and Friday, as we start to draw a southeasterly flow off a hot near continent along with higher humidity too, so we could see temperatures reach 35C across southern England and perhaps 33C as far north as the Vale of York. Reaching the mid-20s across eastern Scotland and N. Ireland too, with dry and sunny conditions. Cooler for NW Scotland with cloudier skies and a chance of rain on Thursday, though drier on Friday - as high pressure drifts north.

High pressure continues to drift north to be centred over the Norwegian Sea by next weekend, while low pressure looks to drift north from France and the Bay of Biscay, though there is differences between models how much high pressure will continue to influence the weather and how far north low pressure will drift. Potential for some thunderstorms to develop from the south next weekend, but many places missing them and staying dry and sunny and likely remaining hot and humid in the south, with temperatures still reaching the low to mid-30s.
