Weekend weather - looking dry, sunny but still chilly in the evenings when sitting out

More dry, fine weather to come this weekend but temperatures still in the teens. Warm enough for sheltered sunny areas but still nippy in the breeze off the North Sea or along the south coast.

A dry weekend coming up, good news for those wanting to sit outside a café or pub. Also, for getting out the warm sunshine continues but a nip in the air once the sun goes down or in the shade by day. And still cold by night with the risk of frost. Friday will be warmer for many with temperatures in the mid to high teens away from North Sea coasts, Grampian and Cornwall, Channel Islands and much of Devon as the brisk east wind continues. If you are sitting out on Friday evening prepare for a change from the warmth of the day to the chill of April nights.

High pressure remains over the UK through the weekend keeping the settled conditions going with clear skies, sunshine and no rain. Remember your sunscreen. Tree pollen levels have also been high and the sea is still nippy at this time of year.

For Saturday morning there will be a cool east breeze and low cloud early on for a few areas but again fine and bright, then sunny. Warm spots on Saturday will be central Scotland with Strathclyde up to 17 or 18C with hardly any breeze. Northwest England will be well sheltered and see mid to high teens with sunshine. Counties Tyrone and Londonderry will reach 16C with sunshine. Other parts of Britain will have the easterly breeze which remains quite a feature on Saturday for southern Britain as the high shifts away to the north temporarily.

Chilly again in the evening and overnight, so a nip in the air first thing on Sunday. East Anglia, Lincolnshire and around the Thames estuary will continue to feel the nippy east wind off the sea even London staying on the cool side at say 15C.

Again, some warmth for NW Wales and NW England, more of a westerly breeze for Scotland so inland and eastern areas could see mid to high teens for the temperatures and also inland for Co. Durham and North Yorkshire. Soon turning cold for Sunday evening, particularly for inland southern Britain and the Midlands.
