Temperatures at the weekend fell down below -10C in Highland, Scotland and for Monday 2nd the day started around -6C for parts of England. It's been a cold and frosty start for December but with some welcome sunshine. A change is on the way this week as milder air flows in from the Atlantic.

High pressure holds on for southern Britain over the next few days with still conditions and a chill in the air. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for fog and freezing fog for Tuesday morning for SE England. There could be travel issues.

No snow is expected as this milder westerly air flows in but it will bring plenty of rain to western Scotland and there is a Met Office weather warning for Rain Thursday into Friday this week. With over 100mm of rain possible for prone mountain areas there is the risk of flooding.

By the end of the week, everywhere will be milder and blustery as the crisp, frosty start to December will have been swept away.
