The weather is hotting up for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Wet and blustery weather seems determined to lurk near to the far NW of the UK this week but for most high pressure building to the south will do a good job of settling the weather down. By Friday and Saturday, there will be a warm southerly flow, lifting temperatures into the 20sC with plenty of fine, sunny weather. This late August taste of summer could last for the whole of the long weekend, but there is a little bit of uncertainty for Sunday and Monday. However, if it does last then temperatures in the SE could reach into the low 30sC, just. We're due a bit of heat and sunshine after this August, there might be some early morning fog to watch out for.

Late August bank holiday temperature records

Current overall record: 31.5c - Heathrow 2001
Current bank holiday Monday record: 28.2c - Holbeach (Lincs) 2017
