Atishoo! Grass Pollen season is here

You may have already suffered due to the earlier tree pollen and fungal spores are in the air at moderate levels as well, but it is the grass pollen season which hits the most people with tradiational hayfever. Runny nose, sore throat, itchy eyes and big sneezes.

Scotland has seen high levels earlier in the week when temperatures reached into the mid 20s C. Slight cooling to end the week is bringing the grass pollen levels down a bit here and for Northern Ireland. Grass pollen season traditionally runs from late May til July, although it was a bit late this year due to the cooler spring weather. The weed pollen season has also started, with moderate levels. A few allergenic weeds such as plantain and dock are starting to flower and nettle pollen is airborne.

Levels do dip on cooler, wet days but with this week's heat and sunshine Pollen levels are High or Very High over England and Wales.

Keep an eye on the Pollen Forecast here each day. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=pollen;sess=
