It looks like May is finally going to show us some true spring warmth.

Much warmer air is heading our way ready for the weekend. And it will even reach Scotland and Northern Ireland, with temperatures just into the 20s Celsius in the far NW of Britain, and mid twenties for SE Britain (25C =77F).

It's not a completely hot, dry and sunny picture, of course but it is going to feel that winter may finally be fading.

Midweek, we still have slightly cooler air in the NW half of the UK, with a weak weather front bringing a cloudy dividing line. A pleasant 19 or 20C further south will feel fine out of the southerly breeze.

For Saturday, the highest temperatures look to be for Anglia and Home Counties. Rain looks like moving over N.Ireland and there'll be a scattering of thundery showers moving up through western Britain, maybe into the Midlands. There will still be a noticeable breeze off the sea, for Channel and North Sea coasts.

Cambridge - Weekend temperatures of 23 or 24C feeling like 27C still with a bit of a breeze. Low risk of a shower

Aberystwyth - Around 19 to 21C feeling like 23C, humid with chance of thundery showers

Brighton - Weekend temperatures 22, 23C but breeze off the sea. Minimal chance of a shower

Omagh - Cooler Saturday with rain but warmer and more humid Sunday at 16C as wind turns to SE

York - Warmer on Sunday 22C, feels like 26C with sunshine and risk of thundery showers

Stirling - Cool Saturday especially in the wind. Warmer 18C by Sunday but risk of showers

Sunday sees the warmth reaching further north, with SE winds there will be some shelter for NW parts of UK. Also the best of the sunshine for eastern England. There will be a bit more cloud further west, a few sharp showers but not bad and feeling a bit more close and humid inland. There will be cloud about so to reach the highest temperatures you'll need good breaks and long sunny spells, away from the showers.

This air will continue to feed up from Europe, even next week. The flow becomes more from the SE, drawing in more warm air from the continent. The Outer Hebrides look like having some glorious weather and heat, also warmer for Co. Tyrone and Fermanagh.
