After a fine week, some changes in the weather for NE Scotland as the entertainment takes place at the Braemar Gathering
Saturday 6th Sept 2014 9:30am til 5pm
The first weekend in September sees the Braemar Gathering in Aberdeenshire, usually attended by the Queen. The programme includes a hill race, tug o war, Highland Dancers, piping and tossing the caber. Scotland has been enjoying the warm, settled and dry weather which has been across most of the UK this week, however the weather is set to change during Friday.
A cold front will bring heavy rain across Grampian on Friday and as this clears southwards, cooler air flows in from the North. So Saturday morning will have a chilly start but should be drier and brighter. During the afternoon, bands of showers are forecast to pull down from the north and so it's likely that there will be some heavy showers in the second half of the event. So in the sunny late morning it will feel okay, even as the winds pick up a bit. Then as the showers arrive it will feel cooler at only 12C
