The first week was HOT! now it's back to normal and there is rain in the forecast.
Friday 1st August update
After the amazing scenes from the Opening Ceremony on a sultry night in Glasgow, joking in song about "Land of Heather, Scottish Weather" - queue stage effects of thunder and lightning, the usual conditions are set to return.
Saturday - Hockey, Pole Vault final, Triple jump all likely to see some showers around, especailly in the afteroon up to 17C. Also for the final Relays and Usain Bolt there could be showers at Hampden Park
Sunday- Road Race Cycling the women might be lucky as they set off in the morning but rain looks like arriving by midday for the Mens race. 16C with blustery winds
Tues 29th July Update
Back from the Rhythmic Gymnastics, (spectating only) and a super day at the Hydro. Sunny Glasgow reached 27C and did have some train issues - Mmmm you know who you are. Luckily for me, on the way back to E.Lothian my carriage had air-con, poor folks in Coach D are probably still melted onto the floor. Met Clyde (see below), inside that costume must have been 39C! #sweaty
What about the second half of the Games? Day 6 today
This week will be cooler, highs of 18C, with a brisk Westerly breeze. This wind comes in off the Atlantic, so is fresher, than the humid heat of last week but also has more moisture. That means more chance of rain or showers.
There will be brighter spells mixed with the blustery showers and at the moment Sunday is looking the driest and sunniest day of this week. So fingers crossed for the Closing Ceremony.
Mon 21st July
Wimbledon's over, World Cup football finished, the next onslaught of sporting action to fill our screens will be the Commonwealth Games. I'm off to the Gymnastics this week, and getting very excited. Slightly worried my train journey could be hot and stuffy but I'm sure the train companies are on the ball.
