For spring Bank Holiday weekend there will be heatwave conditions for parts of England and Wales with potentially record breaking weather if temperatures reach 33C.
The UK May highest recorded temperature is 32.8C from 1944 in three locations (also 1922). The record for Wales in May is 30.6C and this could be under threat by Bank Holiday Monday.

Met Office climate extreme data
There is more cloud over Scotland and Northern Ireland, western Wales and Cornwall but everywhere is feeling warmer now and in the sunshine over England it is a glorious day.

We have high pressure building in from continental Europe, settling our UK weather down. Although there will still be an Atlantic influence in the far northwest with frontal bands bringing cloud and showery rain across Britain on Friday evening and overnight. This should clear away from Anglia on Saturday morning, with a low risk of some heavy downpours before dawn, perhaps thundery ones for Kent as the showers clear mid morning.

There will be some lingering cloud on Saturday morning but it will be another warm day. The focus of the heat over SE England.

And the second half of the weekend that heat builds further with more sunshine, a light breeze and this very warm air from the south.

Bank Holiday Monday looks to be the hottest day of the long weekend and with the potential to reach 33 even 34C which would break the UK record for the month of May. Also perhaps challenging that Wales record.

Take care in the sunshine and rememeber your UV protection and also if you are heading to the coast, take care in the water.
