The Bank Holiday weekend looks a mixed bag, with rain affecting pretty much everywhere at times, but it's not a total washout with decent sunny spells and temperatures turning a little milder from the south. Michael Fish also take a look ahead to election day, and it looks a bit more settled than the result at the moment.

Saturday will start brightly with a touch of frost for northern and eastern areas, cloud over the rest of the UK will keep it a little milder and rain over the south west will make progress inland, heading north east leading to a damp start for the south west of England and Ireland. The cloud will spread over all areas, and the rain will move in over the south west of England, Wales, Ireland & N Ireland. It will also be a blustery day generally, especially for western areas.
Into the evening and it looks like the rain will make more progress the over the south east and north west, with some heavier showers at times and will continue to head north eastwards through the early hours of Sunday, clearing the south of the UK during the morning, with sunshine and sharp showers following behind.
Bank Holiday Monday will see the rain clearing Scotland during the morning, and the rest of the UK mainly dry with some sunny spells, though an occasional shower could pop up, and in the sunnier spells we could see temperatures of 17c in the south, and a cooler 12c in Scotland. Rain will arrive from the south west later in the day and spread across the UK overnight into Tuesday.
The remainder of the week remains unsettled, and windy at times, but there does look like a window of dry weather for much of England and Wales on election day, though Scotland will see some rain over the day.
