April can be a tricky month with warm sunshine one minute, temperatures in the high teens or low twenties and then hefty downpours, hail or sleet the next and you need your coat and jumper or the heating on. This week there will be some warmth by Tuesday which lasts through Wednesday over England and Wales. Temperatures should reach into the mid 20s Celsius which is around 75 Fahrenheit. The highest temperatures in the UK so far have been high teens up to 20.7C in the first week of April

The milder air starts to arrive on Monday and the brisk SW flow keeps going into Tuesday. Eastern parts always do well in a fresh SW wind but the winds will be lighter over southern Britain and 22C is likely.

There will be a cold front waving around in the north, which will creep southwards during this week. By Wednesday it will feel fresher in the north but with much lighter winds, ahead of the front in the sunshine the temperatures could rise to 23 or 24C, even 25C (77F).

Things do change by Thursday. The cool air collapses eastwards but still manages to reach well into southern Britain. Southern Counties of England could hold onto 17 or 18C on Thursday, which isn't bad but with more of a wind from the NE. This breeze off the North Sea will make much of eastern and southern Britain feel cooler. Do keep an eye on the air pollution forecsat from DEFRA particularly Thursday SE and Friday SW http://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/

It then stays cooler into the weekend with still the risk of a touch of frost by night, gardeners take note. So if you are still on Easter holidays, enjoy the warm spell and a fair amount of dry weather (away from W.Scotland). If you are back to work or school, not long til May bank holiday. Jo
