Of course what you see now on the forecasts compared to the radar tomorrow will be very different as well, of course its only a guide and probably the reason its different is because of uncertainty.

But that is the here and now. Forecast 6.30pm and radar for same time. The BBC graphic has rain and the radar snow. The forecast says rain except NI and Eastern Ireland yet clearly there is/was heavy snow right to the West coast as seen lying on the live webcam

The surface flow must now have turned to the E/SE as the temperature has dropped in the last hour from 2.7 to -0.8°C, bringing in the surface cold that hopefully will still be around in the SE flow when the front arrives tomorrow. Ironically we would benefit most from the surface cold as being at the West Coast, we have the longest fetch over land.

There is good reasons to snow where I live:

1. Coldest night. check.

2. South-Easterlies. check.

3. Ideal terrain ( Hills to the East and South-East of me, that is where the deepest snow is). check.

4. Existing lying snow. check.

Looking very promising.

:)

Not looking to great in Carlisle I'm afraid, the BBC weather says dark clouds and odd light snow. I think its due to the mountains just eat them away. :(  I could be wrong though hopefully.

It depends where you live in Cumbria, the further south you go the more you expect white stuff or wet stuff.

No change there then!!

Hey look, this little shortwave looks more developed on latest ECM. Too far SW for us i guess but might give a nice surprise snowfall to SW.

ECM1-24.GIF?19-0

On JMA 12z again the main ppn doesn't get very far NE so looks like N Wales will do very well.

J36-594.GIF?19-12

12z nmm has this shortwave also. It also shows that the bulk of our snow tomoz comes from this shortwave. Starts moving up towards us tomorrow morning. And by 17:00 ppn is over the mersey. Itbhas it as snow/rain mix. It also merges with what is coming from the west. The ppn from the west dies before hitting IOM but looks to be invigorated by the shortwave coming from the SW

As a comparison, the temperature here is now -1.3°C, although the Met office app at the moment predicts it to be +1
