As happened yesterday, conditions turned out better than forecast, perhaps pay back for the rain we endured on Sunday when most escaped dry. Some very early showers, but it stayed dry all day, but another chilly one.

Tomorrow expected to bring more general rain, the outlook for the rest of the week looks dry and settled but quite cool for late May as we see an airstream digging in from the north and east. The late May sunshine is very strong though and in shelter and under it, it will be very pleasant.

Morning all.

Its been a busy few days.

A dull morning with drizzle a bit of a breezr and the occasional heavy bout of rain.

Went to my cousins wedding yesterday evening at the Ashes Barns in Endon, Staffordshire.

A beautiful evening and very picturesque.

Could be Haaland as the private plane came from Dusseldorf.

Sat in car on chauffeur duties again.

Watching the planes come over on the Denton/Bredbury border.

Off to the Greek islands on Friday can't wait weather looks fantastic temperatures between 25 and 30c seriously thinking of a permanent move out there so many good things about living out there instead of living in this ever so expensive and depressing country.

Or Vincent Kompany before he jumps on the x43 for manager talks at Turf Moor

as for the weather.

a wet morning but brightening through the afternoon and not a bad evening.

a coolish feel though and could easily be early April rather than late May.

Well if Burnley need a master class in how to defend, he's got the credentials.

Anyway, this evening still a bit blustery and fairly cloudy.

I had to put a sweater on as its rather cool.

We had a damn good defensively minded manager in Sean Dyche.

It’s at the other end that we usually struggled and TBH we’ve operated with a patched up back line for much of the last two seasons.

As others have said a cool feeling day for late May. Plenty of people out and about in warm coats when I ventured into Oldham town centre. And looking at the models there's nothing all that seasonal on the way, of course subject to change but as of now not good. I don't want it hot but low 20's and plenty of sunshine would be nice & not this dross we have right now where you need some layers.

Beginning to think we had summer in Spring.

The fact we are going to holiday in Cornwall brings back memories of 2012 where we were almost submerged by the amount of rain that fell in August.  The rain was so loud, it was impossible to watch the portable TV in the tent.

Hopefully you don’t have to go through that again… still a way to go.. hopefully patterns will fall more into our favour… anything above 22/23/24c up here would make hottest day of the year… even if it was 21-23c for 2 weeks and blue skies & sunny would make it better than some recent summers…

Temp reading 12° but it feels like it should be in single figures.  Put the heating on very briefly before hopping into bed, just to take the chill out of the air.

Another 4 weeks until we're at peak solar altitude, the more time we waste away with cool weather up to that point and just beyond, the better.

Mid-late August into September is a nice period to get prolonged sunshine in as you don't get unbearable intensity to the sun that you get in June and July.

Meto has me down for rain from 8 through to 5 today and although dry, Sunday and Monday are showing cloud and a max temperature of only 11c.

The only seasonal thing at the moment is the lighter evenings and earlier sunrises.

Nothing more classic and customary to see the good old North West and only the North West getting the share of the rain this morning.

Mind, once this clears off which hopefully it will do by the afternoon I am expecting a relatively dry and rain-free couple of days possibly until early next week now. With a bit of sun it should feel more than pleasant.

Chauffeur duties this morning.

Part way between Hyde and Woodley, no planes to be seen as the cloud base is too low and the drizzle makes for reduced visibility. I keep reminding myself that we are in the later days of Spring although I seem to remember that these conditions are common in our British summer's aswell.

Yes all a bit dull and dark and drizzly isn't it this morning - kind of almost had an Autumnal feel earlier which I know seems a silly thing to say in May but next couple of days fingers crossed a bit more brightness and a bit more dryness to at least finish the week with some satisfaction.

Still looking chilly at times though into early next week

A6-EES today in EXP colours. If the cloud base lifts, I might see it. I'm still parked where I was on my previous post but will probably have started driving by the time it comes over.

Wasn't quite expecting this amount of rainfall around the region this late into the afternoon though admittedly it's mostly in the south and east of the region

Slightly brighter now here in Leigh but the cloud cover is hiding the sun for the most part.

Really heavy downpours… 18mm rain today… only 12c quite dark at times…

May I ask what do you use to record your rainfall totals - I want to start recording them myself but I'm a novice when it comes to these things!

Youshiko weather station got it for Christmas… it has a self emptying rain gauge and has hourly/daily/weekly/monthly totals on the unit…

I do have a Stevenson screen I got for my 16th birthday when I lived in the Isle of Man… it’s a little worse for wear… two of the thermometers got damaged moving up here… I have had it for nearly 26 years…

Unfortunately todays forecast was pretty much spot on up here in the hills.

rain did clear through but it certainly took its time and even though it’s brighter now it still keeps trying to start again.

Add to that a nagging wind from a coolish direction and all in all a poor day’s weather.
