My tinnitus is horrendous.

I had an awful headache all of yesterday and have a slight one still now.

Calm as anything in north wilts. Sandwiched between 2 reds

I was just thinking that, up the road in North Swindon. The wind has suddenly dropped off now that bit of rain has cleared. I wasn't expecting this!

Well here in S Wales the wind turbines are still turning at 1300’ asl

I would have thought they would be turned away from the wind today

Guessing the strong winds aren't there yet then lol

Nothing of note here nearly an hour into the red warning (we are right on the edge of it here in RCT)

Was breezy on the back edge of the front, but nothing now.

There’s so much knee jurk reaction on here it’s ridiculous, the storm is barely even reaching Cornwall yet there’s people saying it’s calm hardly any wind, what do you expect? It’s going to be pretty rough out there today from my guess 10-11 right through until this evening so chill

Now the Met Office called  the RED warning   ....I refused to drive my Son  too  work this morning ,when  he phoned his boss too explain about the RED warning and how dangerous it might be  to travel he  did not get much empathy!....stay safe not sorry ..I lived through the 87 storm and because it hit during the night the loss off life was kept low ,,,,,this is during the day so I pray there are no terrible incidents

Hows it in Basingstoke? Not overly far from you and it is very very gusty here now... I think one gust that just went though was easily a top end 40s I fear the Thames Valley is going to act as one big wind tunnel!

I’m in Edinburgh for the weekend, woke up at 6am hoping to see a blizzard but just slushy mess and it’s now raining. Snow further north. Trying to convince the wife Perth is lovely for a day out.

They haven't cancelled the red warning?

Day out indeed - looking at the traffic, it could take a day to get there!

For updates, Radio 5 is a very good listen, with excellent coverage and updates,

Personally I was merely noting how very calm it was for a brief period. I'm in no doubt that'll change! I'm sure all the other commenters are fully aware of what's to come!

Thought so last night as well, got everything spot on but it gets to the point where we're relying on radio 5 for our weather updates

The density of the air molecules at that height and the uniformity of what little there is moving at 200 mph and the height would suggest it isn’t the jet stream you’re hearing if I’m honest. But I could be wrong as certain atmospheric conditions might render it thus. Anyway air is moving up rapidly to meet it, perhaps you are hearing low pressure in some way, but in the inner ear?

Nah kit sounded like approaching gust, except more constant only out side but wind wasn't that strong yet.  Never mind.

That's fine, but maybe they should adjust the timing of the red then? Particularly the SW one.

Its definitely building here in Plymouth- we are losing signs and branches off trees. Tide has led some some road flooding.
