Just rain/sleet here so far - a pretty miserable day!

Edit - snow now!

Light snow on. Fluffy flakes blowing in the wind.

Edit: Getting heavier.

Barra has just barrelled in; heavy sleet and a brisk breeze now the order of the day, which is unfortunate as it’s my mother’s birthday and I have to get her a card and a present before meeting up for lunch along with other family members. I’ll be the one looking like a drowned cat. Oh joy.

Temperature now 1.6C and wind has risen to 4 to 15mph with 1.0mm of sleet having fallen in the last ten minutes.

Light snaw started blowing about here in an increasing wind.

T = 2.3 °C / DP = -1.7 °C

It's a wee bit blowy and that's my location protected by a 450m hill to the west. Big chunky snow blowing about at 90°. Now 1.1°C.

Moderate to heavy snow at times blowing in the strong winds. Its nowhere near as wet anymore so suspect we'll get a bit of slush soon, lovely.

Edit: grass, cars and pavements turning white

A touch of whiteness to the ground now, but the intensity has dropped and looking at the radar I am just in the wrong place here!

Wee bit of sleety pish / wet snow blowing around here now. Absolutely freezing in that strong wind! Pretty awful really.

Still going a bit stronger here with the best snow of the day falling, but we're in the worst part of the front really. It often splits in half when it comes from this direction so doesn't look like it will last that long here but fingers crossed!

Hammering it down here now but only creating a slushy mess on some surfaces.

Edit: Now beginning to stick on the grass and cars

Not much settling going on here. A slushy deposit at best. Snowline on the hills behind the house looks about 165-170m at a guess.

Transitioning back to rain here. Hills look to have had a decent covering but only a slushy deposit on the grass here. Horrible day.

Temp never got lower than 1.0°C and now crawling back up again, so nothing has settled at my height asl. That despite big flakes coming down in sheets/curtains of snow in the wind. As others have said a horrible horrible day.

EDIT - now that the heavy snow has passed I can see from across the valley that we do have snow on windward slopes at my height asl, but not on this sheltered side. Just shows how marginal it has been - intensity winning over air temp.

Jist miserable wet sleety pish here.

A day for staying inside by the fire.

EDIT. Still, at least the ski centres are getting it!
