Watching that again, who needs the heating on, also everything was just a pound with the farmer lol 🤣
I wished my heating was just a pound 🤭

The energy companies are run by Mr Fiddler but nothing costs a pound anymore😪

Woodburner lit in the evenings currently, we always start by burning the tatty 'small' wood at this time of year and save the proper logs for when we need a 24hr a day burn. Wood sheds have enough seasoned wood stacked to last the winter, and the good thing, it's only cost me sweat and effort and a bit of electric to gather it cut it and split it. Apart from cost the other advantage is that if we are cold we don't feel guilty about having a hotter fire.

Pretty much same here @mike57, luckily a pal of mine took some Ash trees down on his farm for a new horse arena 2 years back, told me to gather up whatever he left behind, will see me this winter at least 😉

Our heating is set to come on when it feels the need and yes it has felt that need.

I lit our stove finally on the 15th October as a chilly night had been had and wife was coming out of hospital. It will probably go out at the end of April. We have our winter fuel ready, at June prices, so no nasty increments to come.

My heating has been on on numerous occasions. I love a nice warm house as the nights draw in.

Still not had the heating on yet. Will probably have to put it on though before the end of the month.  From 9th Nov my energy provider are reducing costs by 15.5% so that's better then nothing.

I had the heating on for half an hour on a couple of the cooler days earlier this month, but otherwise it has been much too mild to have it on. It won't be going on until well into November given the continuation of the relentless unsettled weather predicted out to the middle of the month at least with little properly cool conditions beyond a very occasional fleeting northerly ahead of an equally fleeting ridge.

Yes that is one good thing about this time of year, apart from the run-up to Christmas, it will be months before we get any sleep depriving temperatures again.

Second time I have put it on this year.

I also made a discovery on my combi boiler...

The gas maintenance bloke did all of his annual checks in September last year, no issues as usual. I knew last winter's bill was going to be high, due to increased cost etc, but when the bill came in, I was shocked. Of course, the heating was still being used through much of Spring, however, it's never on all day, it would go on from about 5pm until 11pm. The Spring bill arrived and it shocked me again! I only finished paying for it all back in September - I am normally well in credit by that time.

The gas maintenance bloke arrived and did all of his checks again not long ago, all good. When I went and turned the heating on earlier, I saw that the boiler's setting for both water and heating was set to it's maximum. In all the years I've had one, it has always been set to halfway on both heating and water, so it was the gas bloke who medalled with it, and I didn't notice it for a year. No wonder the bills were off of the scale. 🤬
