Today was something like the fifth lousy summer day in the last ten here in W Sussex. June has been a month of two halves. A warm and sunny first half, followed by punishment weather for the rest of the month. I'd prefer it if the good and the poor days were more mixed up i.e. more day-to-day variability.

Personally I like the UK climate. In general not too hot and not too cold but with the potential to get very hot or very cold at times. This makes the weather, in the main, bearable but also brings a lot of interest in the extremes when they do occur as they're unusual.

I think the UK climate is good, as long as we agree that climate is not the same as weather. We can get lousy weather at times, but the climate (i.e. the statistics of the weather) is reasonable. The lack of extremes means it is a very livable climate without resorting to much climate control (i.e. artificial heating or cooling), and is good for agriculture and the beautiful scenery.

I don’t like to complain about our climate but it’s been cloudy again here today. Just thick wall-to-wall cloud all day. Barely a glimpse of sun. Getting really fed up of it now. It’s been so cloudy all week here. Had a bit of sun on Thursday afternoon and a partly cloudy day on Saturday but the rest of the time it’s been cloudy. It really gets your mood down after a while.

While it’s been a very dry month here the sunshine has been poor. Just 13 mm of rain but only 115 hours of sunshine according to a local weather station higham–weather.com

A month featuring a whole load of nothing weather. No heat, no thunderstorms, no washout days, not much sun.

We had a some sunshine late afternoon almost a carbon copy of yesterday, the cloud rolled back in then cleared just before dawn to leave another fine late evening.. Been a while since we had a blue sky day.. can't beat blue sky days this time of year.

It really does affect moods negatively. The lack of sunshine and frequent grey, dreary nothingness. Expect it in winter and not as bothered by it then, but in summer it’s just awful and so depressing. Hopefully, some clearer skies for you soon ??

What really Swearing AGAINes me off is it coming in off the continent... one expects it from the Atlantic but from the other direction is just an insult

What is wrong with the BBC Weather page, I have been monitoring the weather for Tuesday in my area it constantly changes but they can't even get the same weather on the same screen

So is it going to be sunny spells and dry or raining this is why weather forecasting is ridiculed and mocked.

The last ten days can now be considered pretty poor here, 55mm of rain, only two days have reached 21C (max 21.4C) and we've had a dreadful 36hrs of sun (of which 12hrs came in one day)

I dont  know why people complain in the sense.. This is what happens to the UK. Blocked to the east with high pressure. Blocked to north with high pressure. The low pressures off the Atlantic have no place to go  but straight at us..

To be Fair this June for most of the northern part of the UK as been pretty decent., Theres  been a low stuck over northern  France  That's had no place to go  because of the blocking  further north in the UK. so the south has had to put up with it. Looks  like next week (if it happens) a low is gonna get trapped over the top of us. hopefully after that it will move things along and shift the whole pattern further north.. But how long that takes is anyones guess.

Secondly the Met office has yet to change its update for the second week onwards for the weather to settle down for the UK

Time will tell if thats accurate.. But lets face the face here. it takes a hell of a lot to get heatwaves in the UK. because they rarely happen. I just want a settled summer with a bit of warmth and a decent amount of sunshine. So far in my neck of the woods Its been that way. I do live in hope the second half of summer will be hot. Just got that feeling.. and anyway theres Still July August and September

The lack of sun the last 10 days or so is really starting to grate now. The start of the month feels like a distant memory.

Part of the reason is that you have to look at it for 17/18 hours in Summer too. In winter, as you say, it is expected, plus you can shut your blinds at 1600 and forget about it until 0900 the next day

So this trough that spoiled what should've been a good weekend/week is going to be replaced by the Atlantic. Great stuff

The BBC Five live weatherman at 8.30am this morning saying Wimbledon should be ok. Just the odd shower. It is currently under a massive rain system that has come out of France. What hope have we got for 10 days time when they can't get just 3 hours in advance right!  Here in Dudley just the usual grey cool dullness. Muzzly. About 14c. Rubbish.

14°C at lunchtime in late June is awful. Feel for you! Hope it improves soon. Not bothered about heat but sunshine is so important for well-being.

Well this was always going to happen in a thundery regime. Complete contrast here in the Solent. Thunder clouds are building too far inland to affect us, so it's currently a beach day: mostly blue skies and 24C. A forecast blow-out locally

24C? I think that’s in Scotland.
