I’m currently at work. Raining heavily in Bromsgrove...but just as I was dispatching my train, it was really trying to turn to snow and doing a pretty decent job. But I had to leave.

Let’s see what it’s like as we go up the line towards Lichfield. Was a pleasant evening when I was last there a couple of hours ago.

Hey what’s going on, it’s all gone quiet here....maybe not for long though, as nothing is moving fast, but looking at the radar the precipitation is sinking south

Lovely photo Barbmac, thats one for the April history books ❄️

That area of snow died out a few miles to my north and then re-invigorated a few miles to my south

Little feature for late tonight/early hours of tomorrow that could give a covering for parts of the Midlands. West and South Midlands mainly.

Radar showed a small area of precipitation that slowly passed through here and the surrounding Solihull and Birmingham area about 45 minutes to an hour ago. Have no idea whether it fell as snow as would have still be asleep. Could forever remain a mystery lol

Always the rest of today, along with that possible wintry event tomorrow morning, for some sleety or snowy action, mind.

Sounds like some of you have been doing well, especially Snowke-on-Trent ❄️

That possible snow event that was showing it’s hand for tomorrow morning, is looking more and more unlikely now, just the SW tip of out region may see some methinks ❄️

I can confirm  that it did fall a snow around here...  (I saw it through the curtains when the wife woke me up!)

But hardly enough to dampen the ground.

Lovely and sunny here now though.

Things maybe clearer later, 12z or even the 18z methinks

Sun out and sudden polystyrene ball type icy stuff falling.   Then stopped...looks to be forming North of here.  Roll on Spring now please!

Yes a rash of showers are starting to bubble up now

Almost anywhere could see a wintry flurry or two this afternoon

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
