Interesting how showers re-intensify as they pass Manchester 😅

Just bored so looking at the GEFS 06z postage stamps, they certainly look to be trending on trying to build strong heights to our North/ NE again after a milder interlude later this coming week, could be a very cold February on whole

I can confirm my first snow flurry of the cold spell here. Encouraging that already, the showers are reaching here, even if extremely light.

I love the onset of an easterly. 🙂 The grey, leaden skies and hearing the wind rattle.  Watching the temp and dewpoint go lower and lower.

Me too...this is why I love the weather. It just fills me with such joy to 'feel' the different weather. The feel of the air, the different clouds, just seeing the clouds coming from a different part of the sky...etc.

I am hoping for a freeze to see the lakes etc here freeze, always cool to see. Also I low the shapes the drifting snow makes (as remember them from the last BFTE.

Fingers crossed we all get some sort of snowfall. Who knows what we will get? I am under some sort of streamer tomorrow but will just enjoy my day and if owt falls from the sky then it's a bonus.

Snow flurries have been getting slowly more and more intense over the past hour. Mostly comprising snow grains, but we are now getting some moderate bursts on and off.

This time last year we were about look forward to Storm Ciara

Culminating in the wettest February on record by a landslide (or landslip), note it wasn't that wet to start with!

A bit more to the showers now, still not heavy but bigger flakes and more of them at the moment.

Still flurries and looking at scraps - meanwhile E Anglia is heading for Narnia.

Cheers Joe, I don't think I'm the only one here...

These are my pics (link to insta as not got them on my laptop) from the last BFTE. I love the shapes of the snow drifts (be it small as only light snow fell) but how the snow filled up the holes in the ground too...

Not wildly enamoured by the 06z EURO4’s position of the streamer. It now looks like we will miss it and it will go to our south (maybe Cheshire will get it), however there are opportunities further north in the region if you run the frames. 06z GEM is similar @Day 10

    BUT

    - there are still likely to be showers

    - it might be wrong

I think this is the last time I look at a high- res model and I’ll just stick to the radar from now on (yeah right).

The ENE’ly will push the Humber streamer to our south most likely.

    spacer.png

Back from an extremely fresh walk with a few flakes blowing about in the wind, bodes well for the main action to kick off tonight into tomorrow and beyond.

The streamers will be hit and miss but I really think it'll be a very nowcast situation for the next few days.

This chart is a little more promising mate.

I also personally think the Met have been pretty poor this Winter, their text forecast's have been at times like a child has written them, and as for their warnings...

This spell could turn into a proper classic Big Freeze so plenty to be positive about, and that's coming from someone who hasn't seen lying snow for 3 years!

I'm sure the wait will be over soon and I'm sure areas will see further snowfall 👍.
