Just had 10-15 minutes of torrential rain and gusty winds.

looked more like a squall line than a shower on the radar but thankfully it’s heading over the tops into West Yorkshire now.

Morning! As Peter Kay would say - That horrible drizzly stuff that soaks you through here.

A good read if anyone is interested, maybe Winters will get colder again after all.

United States and Europe are strongly influenced by Gulf Stream, which is approaching a collapse, based on the latest data and new studies

They've been saying that for years and it hasn't happened. I'd take it with a large grain of salt.

didn’t last long but was pretty intense.

First nice morning weather wise in a long while. Shame it won’t last for the weekend - next week/ into early September looking more settled however. I’m biased I suppose being a September baby and Autumn lover but September can be a beaut of a month especially after poor/ meh summers like this year. Can’t believe we’ll be knocked on the door of meteorological autumn soon!

Met Office UK weather warnings for rain, snow, wind, fog and ice. Choose your location to keep up to date with local weather warnings.

Its a definite as Classic car show is on at Manor Park, Glossop this weekend. The grass they park on will resemble Glastonbury.

Well at least Fridays early finish allowed me to cut what turned out to be a lot of thick, wet grass on what passes for our lawns.

couldn’t wait for the sheep to wander down from the tops although looking at the mess they left behind last week, I’ll stick to mowing it myself

Met office warning for thunderstorms, tomorrow.

Not holding my breath after the debacle of a fortnight ago.

Low pressure moving in more quickly brought sundays threat forward to tomorrow.  Met office opening line " many places missing the worst" LOL.  Have a read of @BrickFielder  recent outlook on the convective thread, made me feel more optimistic.  It's the usual nowcast and wait and see.

After a sunny ☀️ warm morning rather a disappointing afternoon…. Bumped into a few friends whilst walking around Glossop after a few appointments…. Tea was griddle panned ribeye steaks   with homemade chunky chips, roasted pepper and mascarpone sauce and stuffed portobello mushrooms with Corsican rosé our cousin from down south brought us back from Corsica (what we had in Corsica in 2018 when we visited… seems soooo long ago)

Bit like this one(hercules) yesterday, did most of the flight about 600 feet above ground level, made the other half swear in her mandolin lesson....

Was about 350 feet above us at the side of the valley!

A better day today, a bit of sun this morning but it was completely overcast from 12 noon onwards. Despite the thick cloud, it was much warmer today with a max of 20.3, the warmest day since the 4th here. It also felt warm because of the light winds and high humidity (min of 74%). It was also the warmest night of the month last night here with a min of 14.1. It also had the highest daily mean temp of 17.2.

Stats for the first 20 days of August far here:

Mean max: 18.3

Mean min: 11.5

Overall mean: 14.9

Rainfall (readings from the nearest weather station): 86.6 mm

Sun (readings from the nearest weather station): 46 hrs

Not brilliant but we've had worse.

After a dodgy weekend, next week looks pleasant, dry, sun and clouds, low 20's, bring it on.

Rsin creeping in and slate grey skies.

Watching a Jet 2 flight which seems to be in trouble. Seems to be heading for Birmingham.

We've already had the heavy rain in the south of the region and (of course) I got caught out in it as Mrs FLT asked me to do a 'big shop' after our time away. If anything, the rain has eased a bit but I wouldn't want to be getting wed or camping anywhere in the NW today!

There was a wedding couple in Tesco last night.

After a pretty much dry but incredibly damp stuffy feeling morning, the rain as set in now, probably to set the tone for the rest of the day.

pretty depressing stuff given the time of year and especially with it being a weekend but nowt we can do about it other than find an indoor hobby.

Heavy rain now. Cant go out now, neither the rest of the family as we are waiting for PCR test results.

On a different note, BBC automated weather has storms for later this evening.... yeah right, as if....

Another boring Auguat day, overcast with rain at times. Very humid too, currently 18C and 85%.

We are now entering the most boring time of year weather-wise, from Late August until Late October, too late for summer heat, too early for cold and/or snow. Of course there's the odd year where you can get heatwaves in Late August or early September, but more often than not, it's drab and dreary.
