Far more likely though is we keep a cold SE airflow that is cold but dry at the surface. Could see some impressive icing of lakes, etc over the next 10 days with only a small window for melt on a few days around mid afternoon, so 21hrs below 0 and a few hours above is not going to stop the lakes, etc from freezing up. That alone will make things look very wintry!

Yup, been thinking this for a few days now. We could see some interesting winter weather phenomenons (besides snow) due to the longevity of below 0 temps. Slow moving bodies of water freezing solid, frozen fountains etc. perhaps severe frosts if humidity isn't too low.

Heavy snow for the last half an hour here in Aylesbury, settling all over grassy surfaces and cars! Probably exceeded my expectations already for this neck of the woods!

Some of the posts in here.. here in Costa del Wirral (up north) we'd love your snow potential! Don't worry about a few modelled descrepancies and just enjoy it

It’s really interesting to see the number of posts here referencing the MetO app. Clearly there are many people for whom this is the trusted source. If the MetO app doesn’t show snow for them, they are not going to be persuaded otherwise.  Strange and disappointing!

Turning to snow across parts of north and east Kent now?

Yes, eastwards.  Look at the Met Office infrared radar and play it forward from this afternoon.  The Darcy system (the bright arc of cloud) expands slowly north but also tracks E/SE as a whole at the same time.

If it was tracking east  it would be going toward Germany Ignore for you.

With the flooded fields all over the place, the next week or so may be better suited to ice skating than snowman building !  Whatever you get, it’s just the weather people !

Yeah, more than a shade of something like Feb 1986 so far on those models, looks impressively cold have to say, should GFS be anywhere close it will almost certain be the coldest extended period since Dec 10 (BFTE might have been colder at the absolute peak, but it was only really the last 3 days that was properly cold with daily CETS below -2c. I suspect if the winds do turn SE towards the weekend we will probably go even colder.)

Wunderground is good for local temps/dp (click weather stations then dew point)

Weather Underground’s WunderMap provides interactive weather and radar Maps for weather conditions for locations worldwide.

Also Met Office WOW is another decent source

WOW.METOFFICE.GOV.UK

The UK Met Office Weather Observation Website (WOW). WOW allows anyone to submit their own weather data, anywhere in the world.

Whereabouts are you Jules? I'm in Surrey and mine has got worse now ??‍♀️x

Near Reigate.  Still showing heavy snow.  Meto app does chop and change a lot though - usually only of use for the next hour!  I'm switching to look  out the window now - quit while I'm ahead
