Right, going to move away from reading here, have dinner and probably wake up at 4am with a screaming daughter and hopefully full on snow.

Enjoy the ride.

So what have people been up to to try and budge the time along? I’ve been watching some Family guy and being as far away from the clock as possible haha

I don’t see why I need to give my exact location on the internet, I said I was in the amber zone and what I was expecting here, wasn’t for an opinion lol

Read my post.  Didn’t say you had to give your exact address or inside leg measurement. It is nice if you are posting to know vaguely where you are as it provides a picture of what is happening or not in your area.

I think that’s a pretty good estimate. Ties in with initial precip, mid Kent streamer then Thames streamer.

Having lived in lordswood, walderslade woods and blue bell hill in the past, they always do well in this set up. And all over 400ft and with orographic lift, helps enhance totals.

Twice when I was living in Dartford I visited myfriend in Lordswood and had to stay the night as they were cut off in deep snowcovers can't remember the years but it was around 2009/2010 winters. I've known 8inches of snow in Lordswood while Chatham 2miles away has a 2inch slushfest

I’ve spent the afternoon watching the Six Nations and as such am now thoroughly depressed.

Not sure what to do for the next 5-6 hours though...

not bothering with food.

Litre of vodka - 6 large cans of redbull

staying up for the snow and the cricket

I was tempted to do the same tonight, what a knock from Root.. It's going to be fascinating seeing how we bowl against them later, amazing that it will all be unfolding on Channel 4 whilst the snow starts to settle. That plus some booze and I'll be cross eyed by 6am..

March 2005 we had an all day snow event with 9/10 inches of snow whilst many other areas had very little - its a good spot

As for 1987...  2.5 feet.

Apps are totally useless in these situations, I really would give up on them and get a decent radar subscription (like the Netweather one perhaps?)
These situations have always been nowcast territory, learn how to read synoptic charts, or sign-up free for a site like WindyTV that gives you so many easy to understand charts from which to learn, save a good radar and lighting tracker in your favourites and ditch those apps.

Could I also point out that it's not the air temperature that decides if it's going to snow, it's the dew point. When the dew point falls below freezing only snow can fall and wet pavements quickly turn white.

What Blizzard means?

A blizzard is a severe snowstorm characterized by strong sustained winds of at least 56 km/h (35 mph) and lasting for a prolonged period of time—typically three hours or more. A ground blizzard is a weather condition where snow is not falling but loose snow on the ground is lifted and blown by strong winds.

I don't know, got it as a present, Weather Station a brilliant name might be able to find the manual.

Should the radar confirm with what the models are thats a nailed on red alert IMO.

A foot of snow with drifting will see areas cut off. As soon as roads are cleared the snow will be blown right back over them.

Very promising latest BBC weather forecast for all the region with quite a considerable extension West, I'm not sure where the clipping Kent and Essex part came from a few on here few have mentioned?  I notice the Amber area now says 10cm+ instead of 5-10cms and she said for the first time 20 to 25cms in places!!! Bit of a ramp from Louise Lear there!!

Goodluck southeasterners

Leave us out of the South East thread moderators ?

Clearly we need another thread to separate areas West of London who ALWAYS struggle in these setups no ?
