Light snow here now but with all the rain we have had it’s going to take a lot to settle

Here's the latest from Newhaven. T2.0 D0.8.

The precipitation has changed from light drizzle to heavy drizzle. The wind has picked up and the rain is settling more easily on the cars and grass. The previously dry pavements now have puddles. This is a great spell of weather

Good loop there.

You can see the dynamics well.

Looks at the LP over France, you'll notice at some later today the convection start looping back west around the LP. That is the lower level flow which switches towards ENE which pushes the convection westwards, whilst the steering currents keep the streamers on a NE-SW heading as they work westwards in the flow.

What time are we looking at for this switch Kold? This afternoon?

I think the convection will certainly be there, just need to get the angle right.

Jeez..... this snow stuff is tough going!

Cloudy here to start the day.

Snow becoming  more extensive later today. As showers or bands of snow push into northern and more western parts of the region.

Euro 4

Still going for some substantial totals (20-30cm) in the east and towards Kent.

Streamers galore.. Just as ever though someone 5 miles away gets hammered while you watch the snow clouds from a distant

Yeah. Only problem with Maidstone is the Luftwaffe missed it during 1940 only joking Maidstonians. Went to grammar school there

Yep it's a shame that it wasn't mangled in 1940. I'm not originally from here. I'm an east Kent man of old

Models for us still look relatively decent despite the radar so I'm holding out hope!

Plus I told everyone on Facebook snow was coming so...

One the dew points go below zero it shouldn't be a problem settling. This should happen any time now. Image shows dew points for 9am.

Ir will come westwards and the ARONE/ARPEGE is quite keen on still giving pretty decent snowfall to SE Essex, etc, drops somewhere in the 10-15cms for the Southend region from this evening through to the next afternoon during about 2-3 longish convective bands.

We were talking about this the last few days.. Models finally smelling the coffee and seeing them like I said in my post just now impossible to pin point any streamers

Thing about these convective bands is predicting where they will be if they are fairly narrow ......

East Kent really is beautiful, each town is so different! Quirky Margate, peaceful whitstable and historical canterbury! Still a whiteout here, pavements and road slowly caving in and going white.
