Visible snow flakes in the rain here in thanet. Wasn’t expecting it so early

Nothing in Canterbury...just copious amounts of horrible cold rain. This is why a January lockdown is worse. At least in April time it was warming up and sunny! This in my eyes is just awful. Here are some pics of an empty Canterbury from the last week!

that’s quite surprising, hopefully soon enough we can get something meaningful around here

Hopefully, I'm sick of this snow drought - had 2 days of snow cover in Feb 2018 and that it for about 8 years.

It does have that smell of snow outside though

Yh not a single flake if snow either in Leigh On Sea since March 2018 so if we reach Feb that's an astonishing 35 months which for 52 degrees North in Latitude has to be bordering on a World Record along with other places in this wonderful corner of the World.

The last 8 years really have been terrible for snow for the south.

We had a run of great winters between 2008/09 and 2012/13, with each one giving at least one heavy snowfall - Feb '09 Thames streamer, December 2009, Jan 2010, end Nov/early Dec 2010, mid December 2010, Feb 2012, Jan and Feb 2013.

The only winter since 2012/13 that has had some interest was 2017/18, which had a heavy snowfall on 10th December 2017 and then the BFTE in Feb/March.

These things do come in cycles I suppose. The run from 97/98 to 2007/08 was also pretty poor, with again only fleeting heavy snowfalls which you could count on one hand.

Front seems to be decaying quite rapidly now.... and not a single flake in Cambridge yet. Losing hope for today - too marginal perhaps !

Yes it’s definitely decaying.

Way to marginal anyway away from the Northern most of the region

Can just about beat that with last weeks fall in Alpine (Texas) which is down near the Mexico Border at 30.35 where they had 2 feet of level snow. Joke this country

Nope. I can't remember the last time I've seen them at the pond in the last year or two. Used to be out there every Saturday but sadly not anymore.

BTW what's happened to SM it says he doesn't exist anymore on the forum. WTF has happened, he be enjoying the chance of snow and the increasing chance of severe cold later on this month

Driven mad perhaps.  It would be no murprise after all the ups and downs.

Here's some interesting info: Since 1881, it has snowed 94 times in Houston, Texas. In the winter of 1973, it snowed three times, dropping 2 inches on Jan. 11, 1.4 inches on Feb. 9-10, and 1.4 inches on Feb. 17-18. The mother of all snows came on Valentine's Day in 1895.

They don’t have a lag like we tend to either. By the time we are getting snow in March, they’ll be back to having mothership supercells and 28-30c days!!

PS precipitation has waned now, and so too has the snow. Any dustings are now fading lol.

The ppn is fragmenting by the hour.

No sign of it backing west.
At least the cold rain has finally stopped falling here before another deluge Saturday morning.

Off for a stiff G&T with elderflower and to kill some Zombies on the PS4
