I've just been in to the Yorkshire thread to feed off of some of the excitement, great pics and videos. It is a long, and depressingly grey and damp wait to see if we get a few flakes. Who knows, we could get a surprise fall, but I'm trying not to look too hard at the moment as there has been so much disappointment. At least if Norfolk get some, the whole SE thread can share the joy!

Temp and Dew point 4c here

The BBC has me down for heavy snow from 2 until 6 this afternoon. The met office has heavy rain for the same time. Mmm I think I can guess which is more likely. Current temp 3.1

I've seen it before - when the air is still and there is cold air not so far away moving towards us, some of the rain looks like flakes of recently melted snow. Normally within an hour or two it will have turned to sleet, and then if conditions are favourable to proper snow.

Now that you’ve explained that, can you explain what this stuff called “snow” looks like?

It's something they used to have in the past...

Joking aside, I am hopeful that there will be some evidence for many of us over the coming weeks - anyhow I did see some even in south London recently on a walk last Sunday at Selsdon Wood near Croydon, around 600 feet, a thin covering in shaded patches surviving from the new year. Here it was just rain for the most part, just one or two flakes.

Anyhow, I jinxed that one this morning, nothing came of it and dry now. I think I could cycle faster than the 0 degree dewpoint line is creeping into East Anglia.

Temp 0.5c . Dewpoint 0c

Dusting on most surfaces! Best daytime covering that I remember since the BFTE 2018, wouldn’t be surprised to see a cm or two in some locations north in our region before it stops

Getting heavier here and trying to settle on wheelie bins, grass, cars and roofs! Not quite there yet.

As mentioned, a staggering difference of temperature across the SE quadrant.

Hold some hope! That’s exactly how the car roof looked here an hour ago and now there’s a fairly decent coating on it, even when I said to my housemate that I couldn’t see it settling on it

Sad to report Steve has been permanently banned from posting the best contributor in SE  what he said wasn’t acceptable but tensions were running high, one shouldn’t be aggravated by a moderator. I’m sure the site wants to look like it’s not being selective in who they punish, but yes you’ve achieved that now. Happy?

weather 4C and very wet. Sums up this winter.

He hasn't been banned. Just not posting anymore. He changed the name on his profile to SMU.

I doubt it. Probably been here a while, but unseen by most. I doubt it's alone.
