AROME really spewing out eye candy with the front stalling around North Kent/Essex and pivoting in the late night.

I would love this to be right for my back yard lol, but I'm not so sure it will be. Love the fact it has snow over me not sleet or rain. Very unlikely.

Over on the main thread it seems to be the case that the GFS is tracking things further north tomorrow, which I suspect may put me and others towards the south of the region out of the game.

May be better for those in the north and west of the region though and just one model so shouldn’t give up hope just yet!

Just had a very heavy snow shower in North Essex, some truly enormous flakes. Went on for about 20 mins, was just starting to settle on the grass and cars and it stopped. Max temp today was 2.3 now down to 1.9

I think the global models will be overdoing the northern extent, but it might mean the hi-res are underestimating it. What is more up for grabs for us is how East it gets, I’d take that Harmonie at the moment

That one gives me hours of sleet finishing with snow.

Yep -- there's still a warning (about to be removed) but nothing predicted to fall from the sky, apart from some light rain tomorrow late afternoon.

Today’s showers all courtesy of a shallow upper trough moving through the region. Providing the instability needed to generate showers (850s of -6/7c enough given a light west to north west breeze).

image.thumb.gif.263394bb15dc0f46cd213099960925e2.gif

A weak ridge moves across tonight so clear skies and a widespread hard frost with temperatures possibly down to around -5/6c in places (-2/3c widely).

Tomorrow

Northern limit probably running along the A14, so Northampton/Cambridge/Ipswich being the northern limit of the snow.

Wouldn't pay much attention to GFS now it's got it right to now.. Its time for the high res to take over...

RE symbol forecasts.. Pay no attention to them either they are computer generated zero human input forecasts and change on each run.

You want to compare high res models and the live radar and start seeing which one is making good similarities. The GFS is not high res enough now..

Once tomorrow morning comes it will be a case of radar only and watching which high res model was closest
