I cant believe its gonna rain for 10 days with the above.

Yeah, cold but not quite cold enough.

Maybe more of a chance of something a bit more wintery after about the 20th, as Paul suggests.

I know what you mean. My maiden attempt at contributing to the thread, “this run is pants for where I live”, never made it past the cutting room floor, so I decided that if they don’t want the benefit of my considered analysis then I shan’t bother.

lol the few times i have posted in there, i'd say 70% haven't made it.

Meto now hinting at colder weather next week

The updated outlook for 17th to 26th sounds more encouraging but I really don't like the last line.

"...but a chance of near or slightly above average in association with any rain across the south"

They are talking about temperatures btw.

I don't post in there often, but the last time they stayed and got likes lol. It was purely about the low leaving America going under the high, and what we needed it to do, to get the pattern to move east. It didn't do it, so we got the less cold option. This was for the last cold spell, I haven't been looking for this one.

Sonic Boom rattled windows just after 1pm here.

Apparantly it was an RAF Typhoon scrambled from RAF Conisby heading towards Northern France as a plane had briefly lost radio contact. All good now but it hit Mach 1 over the top of Essex.

Met underplaying cold and snow for the South and SE, hopefully, with rain mentioned still for here, regarding next cold spell, let's hope the frigid air makes it eventually, so we can laugh at another failed long range forecast

The East of England one for here is slightly better...

"Thursday cloudy and damp, becoming colder again to perhaps give some snow later. Friday drier but cold, with a risk of freezing fog. Further rain and perhaps some sleet Saturday."

Difference in temperature on Wednesday is quite something though. A Max of only 3 for the East of England but 11 in the South East! Still only good for rain with maybe a bit of sleet thrown in for here though. Sounds awful...

I can give you a useful update from the MO long ranger for next week. Dry with some rain or snow, temperatures cold but also could be above average. Hope that’s helped clear things up.

Anyone hear the sonic boom over Cambridge. See the trail from the plane was very low, wonder why. The shockwave was epic shook the house.

I heard it in Hylands Park, Writtle, near Chelmsford and wondered what it was as it was very loud. Where did it occur?

Was a sonic boom from a euro fighter jet. Heading towards London.

People say the noise was like a bomb had gone off as the jets broke the sound barrier to intercept the plane.

ah, but now i see the news article, maybe it wasn't the sonic boom i heard. but definitely heard a large boom around 1300. Mind you, having stayed on many RAF bases i should know the difference between a boom and artillery by now

perhaps the word BOOM is getting into my head lately
