Can someone clever explain why the snow is little bits not big flakes?? Is it the very low dew points?? Could it turn to fat flakes!!?

thanks xx

Probably the heavier stuff hasn't reached you.

Its how it started for me. Big fat flakes now. Ots just how it starts the same with drizzle to rain. It'll happen. Looks beautiful outside.

Good luck to all those in the firing line for snow... it's a balmy 5° here now, so popping on my shorts and getting the bbq out for later... when the rain has stopped.

Its because you have non-marginal snow you tend to get the big fat flakes when the conditions are more marginal for snow.

I think Kent may have to deal with the dregs on this occasion. If you get decent snow today hope you enjoy and make the most of it!

Honestly though I could run faster than this front (for about 20 seconds!)

Most likely although the intensity of the precip also relevant ...... the largest flakes we see tends to be when the snow is tending to sleet for a few reasons .....

Hello everybody, hope you're doing well!

So I gave it a small chance of seeing some brief snow here in Newhaven, maybe even some sleet would be good. But no, the temperature has shot up some 6 degrees over the last hour; so that's that then

Any thoughts bon Temps which continue to climb steady this morning now at -0.7 in North West Kent.  Will participation introduce some evoporative cooling?

Steady ..... too early to use those phrases .........could still ease back in that timeframe ......

Just looked at the radar and surprised how far North and East this is getting. May even just be in for a shout! Still steadily heading this way too, and looks to have stalled up near the Wirral.
