Fingers crossed you see one! Its pretty insane when it happens. Blizzard like snowfall for 15-20 mins dropping cm's of dry powdery snow (as in 101's vid), then sunny and calm for 15-20 minutes, then blizzard and rinse and repeat

BBC Scotland lunchtime was interesting for later tonight into tomorrow morning - some snow showers pushing in from the east and going inland across central belt. Not sure if this was updated charts the BBC were using but nevertheless still looked good.

Still snowing steadily, few inches at most though. Just been out with the dog though and I didn't have to go far before things got deeper. Easily another 18 inches of fresh on top of the old, thankfully compacted, snow. 

Not sure how to post a video but pretty difficult to get anywhere without skis.

A few photos to the north centred around Ben More in Sutherland.The snowy  looking shower cloud on the horizon is slowly coming south.

As sky has cleared  frost has returned to puddles and grass. Currently sunny and 2.5c.with  light NE wind

Having missed out on some snow last night I suspect if this colder spell materialises from the east next week we will only get East winds which although very cold and frosty are not snow bearing on this side of the Firth We need a ENE wind  or preferably  NE to get some snow showers coming onshore otherwise we will watch all the showers stream into Golspie and Tain as happened in late February 2018.

Reached a high of +6c today and that’s the highest it’s been for over 9 days.(Where? Port of Ness,Isle of Lewis.) Yes the north northeasterly drift of last 9 days has become progressively less cold.

Working fine. Where was that taken, more importantly what height? Having cleared the drive at lunchtime and just been out to re-fill the bird feeders, the snow at my house is definitely very wet. I'll get up the hill tomorrow for a walk and see how deep it's got up at 350m+.

Currently 2.3c/1.9c.   and would you believe it, the sun has started to appear.  1.9c was the lowest achieved here overnight.

Hope  those potential streamers will still be around for this evening/overnight.   Waiting on the 12z output KW?

I set off from the top of the brindy hill road south of Premnay and headed west. If I'd carried on I would have eventually come out at the top of the Suie hill but it was pretty tough going! Not exactly sure where I was when I took the video but from looking at the OS somewhere between 370 and 400m at a guess.

Ah, OK, so about the same height as we normally walk the dog at a bit further West. It was knee deep and very tiring walking on Hill of Midmedden last weekend, and still deep enough along the tracks just below it on Wed. It'll be much deeper again after this last fall of snow. Even getting difficult to get into the usual parking spots.

UKMO bringing colder uppers in next Thursday -10 uppers into far NE coast while GFS brings colder uppers of -10 into good part of Scotland by overnight Friday into Saturday. All so close and all so exciting! 

Should add not like it isn't cold just (which may have sounded if i was saying it was mild) now but getting colder next week

Slightly bizarre that it's still showing 3.4c here and I'm only about 5 miles away! You can keep your sleet though 

Can see the temp difference on the radar though with the sleet and snow echoes south of the Pentlands and rain here!

Met office app showing sleet on Tuesday for my location (Dalrymple) and mentioning substantial snow for high ground. Looks like the slider lows affecting England over the next few days may just give south Scotland some of the white stuff, fingers crossed and one to watch.

The light NE wind has already set up showers heading straight for us with the first one producing hail  about an hour ago which whitened the ground followed by another one just now.

Looking to the north in late afternoon sun.

Ben Wyvis looking majestic in its full winter coatin late afternoon sun

First shower to head towards the Cairngorms.

Hail shower heading towards us late  afternoon.

Currently 0.5c.  Really feels like a sixties winter with the freeze /thaw cycles and heading for a possibly frosty drier February. Still bits of frozen in shaded woodland areas.
