I'm just enduring -4.1°C and a gusty wind of 41mph. It's bloody cold with the thick full curtains closed, fire on and central heating.....

Yes, one final pummelling from this spell has caked the cars.

A few flakes from now on but that's it for the city those in the shire especially north Aberdeenshire will have fun for an hour or so yet and Moray too

Missed the heaviest of the snow in the last few hours, but still a good 1.5cm topup.  Now -1.2c.

Wind noticeably stronger, will be making the gritter lorries job even harder.

Pity the snow melt wasn't until Thursday - kids now on holiday until then.

This time next week it will be feeling positively springlike if the apps/model thread is to be believed..

I think it will be a little cooler than that so hopefully a slow melt

Garden doo-dah says -5.5c! With that wind it's absolutely baw freezing!  

Edit: I'm not convinced the doo-dah is being accurate tonight as Edinburgh Airport is -2c. 

Edit 2: Thankfully it's at least more accurate than this one near Dalkeith

Heavy showers earlier in Aberdeenshire as posted bulg others, but largely falling after dark which makes it awkward for me given the lack of street lights. Turning on the security lights showed at least another decent covering, but also some nice drifts forming now that the wind has got up. Going to be interesting to see what tomorrow brings in that regard as there's plenty of light powdery stuff on the fields to act as ammunition.

For those not yet suffering snow pic fatigue, a few from Friday morning! One more cold day for now - I should've kept track of how many days of lying snow there've been in these parts this year. I reckon more than 20 - tomorrow might be about 23 - on the basis of the Met Office's '50% of the ground covered at 9am' test.  Remarkable for this location, particularly nowadays, but many of you are going to have had many times more than this, with quite possibly more to come later this month.

The band moving across Ireland to me looks very well organised much more so than the forecast predicted definitely worth a watching

Morning! Still some very light snow showers blowing about in quite severe gusty winds. Temperature just above freezing, but not by much. Quite notable conditions. The severe gusts seem to be limited to the coast, but still must be some crazy drifting inland. Even here up the road with small bit elevation snow is still just dry enough to blow about. I'll face the wrath, but not nice. Roll on a milder spell, then a early March northerly please!

There's definitely drifting going on here but not as much as I expected, maybe the snow on the fields is a bit better bound than it looks. Temp currently -1.8C and the wind strength still increasing slowly.

Saw a neighbour shovelling snow and there was plenty blowing when he launched it towards his pile so still seems loose enough here, certainly what fell last night was very powdery when I cleared the path in the back garden before I went to bed. No idea what wind speed I’ve got as my anemometer has stopped recording for some reason, so today’s job is to investigate. However, it sounds like it’s howling thru the trees so more than a breeze
 

Edit: just checked and it has decided to work again so must have been a build up of snow on it that was stopping it from birling round.  Currently 0.8c/-4.2c, 70% humidity and it’s saying wind speed around 5km/h but I think that must be wrong? Off to check what other stations are recording around here.

Galeforce gusts here and what little snow we had all off the fields in fact topsoil is now being blown and the mini drifts are brown. Currently -2c.  Frost must be inches into the ground and will be a long process coming out .    Very stormy morning

Suspect there may be a few issues with frozen pipes with this penetrating frost.

Often get more wind than  others from a southerly wind  due to the Cairngorms to the south and if you go down to Nairn on the coast there is nothing.

Wow, how typical that I would actually end up too far EAST for today’s snow! I’ve mainly missed out this far due to being too far West for the heavy precip to make it I basically live on the west coast.

Morning all,

As others have said it’s the wind that’s the talking point this morning. Bang on 0c here at the moment but wind must be a mean 35mph, so considerable windchill. Definitely the coldest feeling morning of this spell here.
