I am genuinely surprised at how little thaw there was here today given that it was slushy snow, wasn't that great a depth and was a bit drizzly.

You got 5 inches of snow there???

meant centimetres .... i swear though had different accumulations on different surfaces....one of the weirdest events i have seen .... it has melted rapidly really looking for a freeze up quickly.

Was watching the BBC forecast this evening at 5pm (why ?) Anyhoo, what happened to the weekend?   It appears to have gone from snowmageddon on Saturday (except for a few areas, which wont last,  to 8.0c on Sunday?...Erm okay!

I absolutely refuse to risk any more of my sanity by attempting to enter the MOD so I take it there has been a major shift in the models?

Stats on the way down this evening.   Currently: 0.9c/0.6c/1025.4mb/SSE/4.9mph.

She is but I was a bit worried she'd ask for calipers too.

We ex- Berwickshire lads have moved to more snowy climes it seems- you only slightly to temperate Canada I believe, while it's comparitively Arctic here in the Tweeddales <cough>. I often look up Charterhall weather just to see how the old neighbours are doing weatherwise. Enjoyed your Borders weather info btw. I recall the day when the BFTE arrived walking from Fogo and quickly got a bit scared and came home quickly with the girls, cheeks stinging from the howling wind and dry snow. Bliss.

Crack of dawn this morning, the missus woke me holding her phone to ask if she could borrow a ruler.

Displeased again?

@Blitzeni was thinking the same as you , weather warning for Saturday and only a whiff of sleet now showing for Friday early hours into Saturday! A somewhat mild weekend . Bit disappointing .

Currently a sunny -1.8C here at the moment, pretty much as the MetO weather app says it should be. Unfortunately that kind of accuracy will give me cold rain again tomorrow morning. ZZZZZzzzz....

Our inch of snaw is still frozen solid, cooncil oot gritting pavements as I speak. Crunching  crisp noises when anybody walks by. We're being really brave and going to Jedburgh this morning... if we can find it

US and Canadian models also agree on good chances for additional #snowfall across Europe and Asia including the #United Kingdom but especially Scotland in the back half of January.

We can but dream!

Yesterday's mornings snow is hanging on valiantly on the grass but thawing quickly elsewhere. Grey and cloudy and chilly at 1.5c.

Bit of a lull just now as people try and work out what the heck the weather will be next week, still looks like being wintry up here next week but wintry in very marginal ways. The key date of the 20th no longer looks like being as cold as once touted but still signs that date could start to open the gates to colder weather. Noone can call it right now but experts continue as shown above to highlight the possibility of some quite wintry weather for us so I remain optimistic. I am certainly not optimistic of any snow tomorrow, dew points looked too high right away.
