I have no idea, there will be a reason but it’s well above my knowledge of weather.

I was always on the understanding of - due point and temp it would snow lol.

Absolutely shocking. Really sums up UK weather. To put that in perspective 10 years ago in North Greece at sea level I experienced 20cm of snow with - 2 uppers 850hPa...

Sorry to intrude @johnholmesdid a guide many years ago its in the learning thread had a look a few days ago.

There are many things other than DP and air temperature to get snow to fall.

EG wet bulb temperature

Upper air temperature or 850s i am sure  you will have seen the debate in the mod thread I have seen -10 850s and had rain.

Anyway pop over to the learning thread and have a read very informative not even started with the above

Hope this helps

Bbc forecast for guisborough

Sleet showers from 4pm

Heavy snow from midnight until 6am.

Cant see that happening though the heavy rain showers we are having are starting to turn a little sleety / hail.

Maybe they know something all others don't, or maybe they are talking rubbish again.

We are currently missing the heavy precipitation so no snow on the ground but still snowing lightly. Conditions look favourable for the next few hours. Sledging could well be a go this afternoon

The WRF is the only hi-res model i can find which picked up on this morning's snow.

Both charts for 9am.

The euro 4 is officially dumped.
