People keep saying tonight but what time are we looking at as the radar looks rubbish.

Look north east it looks OK to me so far with new convection kicking off behind the current showers.

Those showers moving south seem to be losing intensity the closer they get

I was thinking that. They look a lot further apart than when they were hammering Scotland and Northumberland too. Early days though.

@Tucka20 @Boro Snow you are looking in the wrong place. The flow is sending the showers south west as its coming more from the north east. So look at the radar over the North Sea below. This area is where its kicking off.

I've highlighted a rough guide going by the radar. More convection is forecast as the night goes on too.

Can't believe how much that Northumberland cluster has reduced now its about to reach me - don't understand how that can happen?

So it's been a decent day here, got a good inch or two in parts and the heavy showers have continued.

Looking at the radar they do seem to get less as it swings more NE but there does seem to be some meaty ones in that direction, may be another good night hopefully.

I genuinely hope it comes off for you PM and you get hammered, you have waited long enough now but the best things come to those who wait ( apparently ?! )

I'm sure i saw somewhere that when a flow changes direction convection can be stifled a bit but then becomes quickly established again.  I'm sure this happened back in the 2010 beast. Which by the way was a beast.

Radar looks crap for the south of the region now. Nothing for a couple of hours at least. Tonight could be another bust me thinks

I wouldn't recommend building any expectations this side of 2am.

Scunthorpe- match abandoned.  In the time it took to clear the lines on the pitch, falling snow had hidden then again.
