I presume once this front/band of rain has cleared west then its up to the N Sea to start to produce showers?

Yep, it's slowly clearing south.

T-2 (6PM SAT) rain with more & more sleet mixed in here - need those temps/dew points to keep on dropping which they are forecast to do

A lot of you probably use this site, but for those that don't, its a great way of looking around County Durham to see what the weathers doing and temperatures

We have several weather station cameras next to roads in the county. You can use them to see what the weather and traffic is like on those roads.

So is the North East traffic cams website

A recording of the ECM sounding forecast through to Wednesday. You can see there's very little shear (shown by the flags pointing east up to 3000m). There's a temperature inversion that clears through Sunday morning (shown by the kink in the red line at 1000m straightening out so that the line moves from right to left), this is what will allow convection to pick up properly.

No wonder we haven’t heard from Nick this afternoon. Durham getting pasted?

Nothing but rain here. And pretty light.

Bit too technical for me , so what does that tell us in terms of what we may get and when ? Thanks Gary.

Basically showing that the conditions in the North sea look conducive to convection going through Sunday afternoon onwards.

Its rain and sleet from Stannington to Washington at the moment. A few light flakes every now and again.

I don't think the wet is anything to worry about, As soon as the cold weather comes in the ground will be cold and snow will just pile up.

Saying that it has to snow here first.
