Are winds set to shift more to a ENE through tonight and tomorrow, hoping that might enable the showers to not break up as they reach us as much. I'm surprised how well intact precipitation is so far SW in the region, longer fetch than here yet for some reason it fell apart but pepped up Morecambe Bay..

3.0°C here. Need the precip to stay away as long as possible so we can get a temp drop otherwise it will definitely be wrong side of marginal.

As I mention on previous post should be 2 bands one about 2pm and the other one 3.30 to hit Mcr area.. the one to follow up is the later one.. no gaps there  RainToday pro subscription looks quite accurate

What 2nd band?

Had a short burst of very heavy snow with thick fluffy flakes, but typically that gap in the band is heading for me haha

Light snow here. Nothing marginal about it. Everything must be prefect for a change

snow ahead of the front is interesting. Energy transferring south quickly.

Must be a trough(which was not fully forecast it seems) and the Eastern side of the trough had more energy than the western part hence the break up it seems. We got fortunate, it was struggling but managed to get some heavy snow out of it.

An hour or two ago, the Eastern part of the band was more fragmented. It is less so now. Perhaps the gaps will similarly fill in. Just run the radar back to see.

The north east is delivering...snowing fluffy flakes...sticking to areas away from traffic.  Nice to see after a Baltic start to the day, coldest so far -5

Flakes getting bigger amazing. I can't remember the last time it actually snowed in the afternoon here.

Ok good sign then no stupid inversion or saturated air.

Hmm the more eastern clump actually looks like it might clip south Manchester now.

“eastern clump” lol. Makes sense to me anyway.

Big fluffy flakes here. Turning out to be a decent winter this. Had a sugar dusting this morning from a rogue shower too.
