Could possibly get updated to Amber closer the time if it looks more likely with it being quite a high impact event.. suppose it depends on what time of the day it hits also, but looking like rush hour currently. (Tue)

Warning corrected North.

At this rate Tuesdays southern limit will be be at Stainmore and Wednesdays at Svalbard

no surprise though given the way that everything either jumps north or south of here like the more southern parts of Northern England haven’t paid their snow club membership fee.

Icon had no problem blasting the weather front into Scotland by Wednesday leaving us with rain after Tuesday’s ‘potential’ snow.

Need it to correct South !!!

Hopefully will change for you,...  update before last, mine showed sleet, before that- rain , I'm still expecting it to change back to rain before long, but hoping this time it actually plays out .

Tuesday's latest updated charts/warning.

Still looks good for a period of heavy snow for all, maybe turning back to rain in the south of the region later, however I still think there is a good chance of a correction south to prevent any snow from turning back to rain.

Yesterday's runs to the latest today for early Tuesday morning.

ECM - About the same, weaker precipitation.

Friday first.

GFS - A small shift south again.

ICON - A shift north but still ok as the front stalls just right.

Met text.

Cold and dry with sunny spells for Monday.

Windy with outbreaks of sleet and snow on Tuesday.

Winds easing on Wednesday, but rather cloudy with some rain or snow.

Met updated warning.

Warning corrected North.

Happy to be in the warning this time. Even if it snows then turns to rain and melts, beggars cant be choosers.

06z ICON is very much still on for Tuesday.

It shows a separate lighter band of snow Monday night, then a band of snow moving in early Tuesday morning. It does tend to turn to rain for the far south of the region. The front appears to stall in Lancs in the afternoon with some heavy snow by then - Lancs looks like the sweet spot.

GFS should not be ignored however and could well be the final outcome.

So nice to be called  ❤️a sweet spot❤️.

Just about anything will be better than the incessant rain we've had for the last several months.

January rain total currently 303.6 mm.    50 yr average is 142.4mm.

This Jan has smashed the previous record wet January, 263.6 mm in 2008,  All this on top of a record wet year.

Bring on a long dry spell please.   East winds will be OK.

Dew points rise rapidly for me on Tuesday.

Might be a case of getting out in the snow with the kids before it rains. I’ll take that.

Nothing dries the ground out like a strong east wind, unless of course it’s dumping snow on it

I presume that's the GFS? Still time for corrections either way.

Difficult to tell where the front stops and the showers begin but much of the region south of the Ribble seems to be under some sort of precipitation at the moment.

non of the snow we have had has stuck and it’s fine at the moment but it’s as good an effort as the letdown from earlier in the week and unlike that overly hyped event, this mornings was totally out of the blue.

Thinking about it. Anyone find it odd the MO put out a warning yesterday for Tuesday then correct it 24 hrs later. Why not just wait for today?

By tomorrow we will be but the easiest way to control weather disappointment is to expect nowt in the first place.

Looks black southwards.  Up here a weak sun is trying to show through the clouds.  2.9C
