A slight 2cm crunchy covering on top of Tuesdays remaining snow patches. Manc Airport northwards seem to be catching the heavier more prolonged stuff. Another heavy shower off the Irish Sea would be great ❄️

Nothing of note had fallen here yet  bit too far north east of where the showers are lining up.  A few days ago the snow dropping down from Scotland was looking decent for us overnight but latest forecast has it in a very weakened state and also a sleety/rain mix.  Will need to look to 2021 to  see anything more substantial on the horizon.

This current Preston shower seems to be carrying a bit more weight on its northern side. Hopefully if it follows the track of the other showers it might take more of a swipe at north Manchester. Great to see these opportunities for snow in December.

Morning fellow weather geeks! Buzzing that some parts are getting snow from this streamer.  I am just a bit too south, we clipped the southern end of the Manchester Blob...but definitely not complaining, just pleased the snow love has spread.

...but what I have to say is..  to Kasim that spotted this when most places forecast a dry night.  The streamer looks a bit too north for me this time but am loving the reports!

Manchester atis says runway closed, towering cumulus with moderate snow.

Check the latest radar frame. 
 

you can literally see the blob just to the west of Leigh expand and intensify frame by frame.

This is why Manchester does so well with Irish Sea showers - why does this happen? I’ve noticed it many times.

Just gone through the Hi-res rainfall projections and the Euro4 seems to keep showers most of the day. Also some now bring us a little belt this evening around the new year?  One even brings us something early tomorrow morning too. 

So to sum up....keep an eye on the radar
