Surprised how far SW the band of precipitation that moved through here about 10.30am remained intact, west Midlands with snow yet managed to give a minute of snow flurries here. Very odd.

A few cm of snow this afternoon, but turned to sleet and light rain this evening.

Don't look too far ahead and definitely keep away from FI but this is the pick from 8 days in.

TBH a brief look at the 12z runs show some interest again for us, once we get this easterly out of the way. Similar setup to now but perhaps slightly colder uppers?

If that’s an easterly then a stream of snow stretching right back to Norway should dump enough to make a snowball with.

just don’t show it in the Mod thread of they’ll be demanding and probably getting southerly corrections.

Little even getting this side of the A1 now so unless things change and a trough forms, I’d imagine that’s it for this snow event.

quite happy to be proved wrong though and open the curtains in the morning to another foot of snow

People in the Yorkshire thread starting to report rain and sleet, and not just at very low level so may be a blessing in disguise that they are not making it across right now.

Saw today's front pushing down from the NE  on the Radar - we went over to Samlesbury - Mellor - Balderstone with the Terriers  it all closed in nicely over Longridge misting over closing in and giving a good half hour of ppn trees and fields covered to near Narniaesque levels when Preston was largely untouched even from 9 miles away.

Yes - meaning the East aspect is such a dry cold lacking moisture. 8 Days  - but the potential is there no sign of any default Atlantic at that range and definitely staying on the cool side throughout.

Less ensemble scatter in the near term good agreement  too to keep the cold in.

Interesting to see a local 'lake effect' on RADAR with the Mersey & Dee Estuaries influencing ppn downstream towards Wrexham and Wales.

Still below freezing here with lightish snow but expecting a thaw by morning and then that to continue ,due to the constant cloud and temps above freezing the next few days with this easterly.

Even the car in the back ground is having an OMG moment. LOL
