Showers are still piling in, but they're fairly light and moving through pretty quickly - we're right on the south east edge of the amber warning zone, so I suspect most of the heaviest stuff is moving through to our north west.

We've got a good covering here but definitely disappointing so far! - Mainly cos we were all counting down the days from run to run for what feels like 2 weeks and when the winds finally turn to the east, we get patchy light/moderate snow!

Still time for it to change of course but so far the frontal snow events have been far superior

Heavy snow now but it’s not settling, even a little bit. Unless we get a steady stream of showers I don’t think much of anything will settle until late afternoon/evening.

Shows you how pathetic this country is for cold weather when snow struggles to settle even with 850 temps of -11C.

Finally something a bit more substantial in Barnsley. Smallish flakes but coming down heavy, winds have picked up.

The sun pops out from time to time but can already see the next grey wall of snow coming.

After strong wind overnight, we’ve had a very calm period for several hours, but now wind is gusting strongly again.

Now got moderate snow and another dusting, replacing the one from earlier which evaporated!

I might be wrong but looking at Radar, showers appear to be heading more ENE-WSW rather than the NE-SW direction of earlier.  Could this aid intensity maintaining as they travel west?

Very light snow here now. The shower tracked from Filey originally so that's where my focus on the radar will be!

The trajectory of these showers are getting me excited.

Looks like merging of the showers to the west as well and expanding.

As soon as that Amber warning popped up... it all went pear shaped.....

Had about 4cm here and it is starting to thaw already.......

Disappointed that they showers never got their act together and banded up. Just 5 min bursts with breaks in the cloud.....

The amber warning area looks to have the least intensive snow if anything!

I have just said that! You mean south of hull and into lincoln? Seems a lot happening further north now! About time!

Can't help feeling a bit disappointed by this. After all the talk of a beast from the east and how bitter it will feel and being buried under snow, the showers aren't lasting long enough so snow isn't settling apart from on the grass and on cars. This was supposed to be better than the 2018 BFTE as it's happening a few weeks earlier. I remember the wind stinging my face in 2018. The wind isn't doing that now. I remember trying to drive to work one morning at around 10am and it was -5 and the snow was thick. We don't have that now. Can only assume it's being moderated too much by the higher than average SST's over the north sea.

Showers are intermittent and quite brief here, but they are exceptionally heavy at times. Driving down the A170 a little while back and it went from clear road to white over in a matter of a mile. Roads in my village were quite treacherous with compacted snow/ice from last night covered with a fresh load of snow. The last shower to come through had proper large flakes and it's nice to get away from the bean bag filler stuff we were seeing yesterday! Can still see the top of the grass through the snow so total accumulations are still somewhat disappointing but I'll take it considering the rest of this winter!

Might help lower temps as well to stop any little thawing that's taking place.

Exactly the same here, except for the 4cm, we've had half that.
