These sort of systems or associated bands that move up from the SW give South York’s our decent snowfalls (apart from easterlies of course), they seem to hug the eastern side of the Pennines. So far I’m impressed that a 2ndry band has formed and pulling towards us - this wasn’t forecast so now hoping it intensifies.

Kasim in Buxton is reporting on his forum that he is seeing Virga, which implies some of the Radar echoes further North are not actually producing falling snow at ground level.

Not expecting anything today. I thought the other day that this cold spell wasn't looking like 'ours' this time.

The stuff Friday night and Saturday morning went south west of us and today the front is too far south again.

Unless we see anything tomorrow or snow to rain when the Atlantic pushes in then this one has passed us by.

At least the models are looking interesting again, and the milder spell looks short. More chances to come soon I think ❄️

One can see that the north west point causing the pivot is as far north as York in lattitute so it does seem that the band has a chance of reaching here so long as that does not sink.

That would be day 9 of snowfall this winter. Never did I imagine falling snow would reach double digits heading into winter.

Still nowt falling here despite radar saying otherwise.

Possibly due to Virga.  Ppn falling but evaporating before it reaches the ground.

There is some real stuff just south of Sheffield but remember the lightest blue on Netweather radar is just cloud.

Yeh dry with skies brightening in the south west. The front has got as far as it will go and beginning to pivot. However we may get an ice day. Temp -0.3C.

Anything more than 1cm brings South East to a standstill, I'm expecting it being main News story later on BBC News.

They have different units of measurement down there, was the same last week with the "Amber" warning. Either that or they don't cut their grass because "3 inches" isn't quite enough to fully cover it . If it settles at all, it starts at 4cm and builds from there I think.

That band of snow is slowly marching northwards, wasnt expecting anything today so if it survives here I'll be pleased!
