It took you long enough to jump aboard the polar express in 2010 we only see you excited once in a decade on average.

It does HOWEVER suggest if Mapantz is on board, the chance is there..

Local temps and DPs seem to be on the rise at 2.8C and 2.3C respectively so not expecting anything but rain/sleet here.

Yeah it appears to be breaking up but the intensity is still there so far.

Do you think it will change course curl around to reach our area?

A quick pop into the Midlands thread and the West Midlands has ANOTHER covering of snow from the current PPN.  Seems the heavier pulses over the Brum area are the culprit.

Whether it gets this far south with any intensity is another matter, I'm sceptical but we will see.

I don't think I'm the best guy to ask but as long as it keeps its intensity... it looks on track for your location too. One positive is that if you check the last frame on the radar, there seems to be an increase of intensity out of nowhere. The lower segment that's approaching the north of our region now. Fingers crossed.

Depends on how heavy it is when it reaches us I think.

Considering I have an air temp of 4c and a dew point hovering around +3c, I very much doubt what's up the M5 will be anything wintry IMBY.

I am open to surprise though.

Can see the heavier skies to the north. Given I am about to go for a walk, I’d be very disappointed if it were to rain...

Little bit of jealousy browsing the Midlands thread. Some have had the proper 50p sized flakes this morning.

Still enough intensity there and not far away now... please fall as snow

Going purely by reports in other regional threads and looking at the latest observational data, I would suggest the following;

IMG_20201229_120515.thumb.jpg.9e43d2debd3460bffb630b1f889c2ee9.jpg

Red area - snow to most levels, wet and transient but still snow.

Blue area - rain/sleet to lower levels, hill snow.

It's the stuff over Brum we want our way but looking at the rotational axis of the system, I think we will end up with the dross over the Welsh borders instead.

Temps still rising here too.

BS34. Cold rain.

I think i might 'robot' this post for next few weeks, so it appears on a loop everyday. Will save me writing the same every day.

You can see the difference in temp between the Midlands and the West Country here;

Expect rain away from the highest hills for our region for now.  The PPN over the Brum area might help lower the air temp later IF it gets this far.

Fingers crossed the cold air will follow in behind, so hopefully some back-edge snow.

Yh my mates live in Yeovil and they can't believe the difference dropped about 6cms here in a 2 hour spell of very heavy snow. Fingers crossed for you guys tomoz its a bit marginal but truly hope you guys get some and my mates in Ilminster and Yeovil.

5.7c and DP of 2.9c, nothing but rain for I suspect.

I noticed how the temp got down to 0c from about 9PM until around midnight,  when it started raising until it got to 4.5c, at which point it rained.

The West Country is always the last to the party when snow is in the forecast,  and sometimes we don't even bother to turn up to the party.

When all around is brown and mucky

And the weather offers wet and yucky

Keep a hope that it will change

To white and crisp, it's within the range

Of dreams that may well soon come true

That snow and blizzards are coming to you

We could of course live in the southeast... in my three years living there we were lucky to even get the precipitation let alone the cold in the first place...

Today reminds me of a watered down version of 26th Feb 2004. Sunny in the morning, darkening skies then heavy snow all afternoon. Of course cold air was actually in place ahead of that after overnight mínima of -4/-5 so despite a rise to 3C in the sun, it quickly fell as soon as the precip came along.

I just hope if it has to precipitate, then we get enough intensity for snow to follow as the sky has snow written all over it!

Hope you're right, just seems a lot to ask.

Still to high for my liking at 5.6c

Dew Point has dropped in last hour to +2.5c.  Still to high but it's going the right way.
