South West and Central Southern England Regional Weather Discussion 01/09/2020 Onward

Since that rain on Monday, been a nice sunny week with temps between 14.5c-16c each day.
Only spoilt with the 5-12mph NNE wind all week giving a little chill at times

Worked out perfectly for a good gardening week for getting up some maincrop potatoes and lying them out to dry nicely before storing in the potato shed for use next Winter/Spring/Summer.

Good sunny start this morning, a low of 6c at 5.45am, now 7.2c
Wind still NE, but very low 1-2mph this morning.

Someone got an early birthday present today👏😁 Been a stunning afternoon after such a dull start.

I don’t think I have seen anything like this before. It’s like a rainbow but more a ‘cloudbow’ !? It’s been in the sky for nearly half an hour and has gradually moved as the sun is lowering/cloud

Meant to attach some pics....cracking sunset tonight

Dry all day with sunny spells although there was more in the way of cloud later in the afternoon. Reached 13.6°C, currently 9.6°C

Mornin' All, a bright yet mainly overcast sky kicks of the day after an overnight low of 6.2°C at: 01:45, currently 11.2°C, RH86 % and a light breeze in from the East. Some interesting bands of cloud showing nicely on the satellite shot this morning

The beachcam shot this morning shows the patchy cloud offshore and the weekend walkers out and about..

Almost blue skies so far, just a bit of cloud earlier. The forecast was definitely wrong today, but in a positive way, for a change.

Temp 14.7°C.

Same here, Andy.

The sky did clear about 45 mins from sunset, though, and I managed a little sunshine. Temp reached 12.7°C.

Clear skies at the moment, and 8.7°C.

Air quality is poor though, you can smell it!

That was probably the most benign day of the year!

No sun, no rain, no wind, just cloud.

Yes, very benign here too.  Perfect for a long Sunday run.  Not too hot or cold, no wind, rain or sun, perfect!  Love extreme weather but need to make the most of every day

Cloudy all day with no wind at all which you don't see that often here. Reached 12.9°C, currently 8.4°C

Same here in what must have been the calmest day in my 7 year wind record. Anemometer is only at 3 metres but even so, a mean wind speed of 0.1 mph and maximum gust speed 3 mph really is remarkable. The only period anything registered at all was from 12 noon to 5pm, the rest didn't turn the cups and barely a leaf on the trees was ruffled.

Not bad out there now. Hazy sunshine.

Weekend was a cloudfest. Driving back from Salisbury on Saturday morning, it looked pretty clear towards Purbeck.

Yesterday was greenhouse dismantling day. Time for an upgrade, and one that I can actually fit in.

Sunny earlier but it’s clouded over now and it’s becoming increasingly breezy. 14.6°C

Remember those frustrating few days in the summer when sunny, hot, breezy mornings turned into afternoons with extensive mid level cloud and pimply showers thus preventing the temperature reaching its potential.

Today has been identical only 15c to 18c cooler.
