The 12z would be classed as an upgrade for our area-

Yes in the short term looks a bit more encouraging but dew points look a bit iffy certainly where I am nearer the coast...MetO look pretty adamant that there will not be much in the way of snowfall for next week (Mon-Wed), by the way not referring to you about the hype from certain posters and also largely referring to the NH pattern after this easterly.

can i check where this regional thread covers? I'm in North Bucks and I wouldn't class ourselves as proper SE...but also I wouldn't say we are South Central?

I always feel we are caught between a number of regionals. Any help really appreciated.

How's about those showers coming through the midlands now? They seem to have a bit of a swivel on. Temp here is 1.7 and dewpoint is 0.7.

    Well I’ll be 50 on the 7th.

    It couldn’t happen could it?

Be a b**ger if I have to get in the car to go for a drive up to the high Weald in the evening to find some snow. Will be wasting valuable drinking time.

The 'hype' is getting unbearable in the mod thread lead by a few continuous posters, still getting words such as 'upgrade' and 'remarkable'...but the Northern Hemispherical pattern doesn't look that much different from just after Xmas (on current 12z's at 144z+) and backed up by marginal uppers particularly down south. None of this 'cold, getting colder in the New Year' that I've heard numerously a week ago, which isn't happening.

and thats why i don't look at those posts. however, we are all allowed our opinion, just a shame some opinions don't reflect fact 😄

what i would love is that after many years on this site, a forecast was made based on the next week, rather than the next fortnight. crystal balls are just balls 😄

We had a light shower in Folkestone at around 3.15pm. The was a brief heavier burst containing sleet. The airmass is now cooling and there are some interesting radar returns running along the south coast heading this way.  I wonder if we could get some wet snow out of this ? 😊

That's a bit of an unfair chart to say falling snow by Wednesday morning when it's showing Vertically Integrated Liquid accumulation between the 1st and 7th of Jan though isn't it? Your post assumpted snowfall on Wednesday morning or have I got that wrong and what has fallen on that chart is a trace amount over the downs which is what we would expect

I try to steer clear of the Mod thread but it lures me in every time.  It’s like walking past a pub if you desperately want a pint.  There are some really good posters in there, many from this parish and I learn a lot.  For me it’s just trying not to believe that the one model that is showing me getting buried is the right one (not that any of them are at the moment!). I normally fail though.

Right I’m off to the Mod thread to see what the ECM brings.
